Race 1: No.8 Trapeazy
The Team Archibald-trained galloper is third-up today and looks every chance of breaking through for her first win in this event.
Last start, the Trapeze Artist filly showed improvement second-up when she finished fourth in a Maiden Plate over 1200m at Tamworth.
Sent out a white-hot ($1.75) favourite, she drew the fence and Adam Farragher had her box-seating on settling to the turn, then in the run home, the front-runner held a huge lead which proved to be a winning one in the end as the filly battled on gamely, just missing a podium finish on the line.
Drawn nicely in gate five today, she maps to settle just behind the speed again with Mollie Fitzgerald aboard as the new pilot.
Fitter for those two runs back, the three-year-old is well weighted here and looks well worth an each-way ticket in this contest.
Race 6: No.8 Hinune
Team Archibald saddle-up Hinune here who is in good touch this time in and ticks enough boxes here to suggest she can figure in the finish of this event.
Last start, the Hellbent mare did well to beat all but one home in a BM66, here over 1500m.
Adam Farragher had the reins for the first time and drawing the outside gate (7), settled the mare at the tail of the field to the turn then in the run home, chased the $1.12 favourite (Avista) all the way to the line, finishing 4.5 lengths behind the talented Maurice mare (who franked that win yesterday at Randwick by winning again).
Drawn out in barrier eight today, the mare maps to settle back in the field again with Farragher retaining the ride for this assignment.
Facing similar company today, the five-year-old will be at her peak after four runs back and already a two-time winner on soft tracks, looks the one to beat in this contest.
Race 7: No.4 Cresta Run
The Team Cavanough-trained galloper is third-up today and should be ready to produce her best in this event.
Last start, the Your Song mare was second-up and wasn’t disgraced when finishing fourth in the Bengalla Cup, run here over 1280m.
Winona Costin had her sharing the lead on settling to the turn, then took the outright lead as they straightened and looked set to go on with it but she was ambushed near the line, just missing a podium finish, beaten less than two lengths.
Dropping back to the 1000m trip here, she draws gate nine and maps to cross and settle just behind the speed today with Mitchell Bell back in the saddle, having ridden the mare to podium finishes twice previously.
The stable fit the blinkers today for the first time and fitter for those two runs back, the five-year-old looks set to strike in this contest.
