Race 3: No.9 Riche D’amour
The Roslyn Day-trained galloper is in top-shelf form this preparation and ticks the right boxes here that suggest he can claim victory in this event.
Last start, the Rich Enuff gelding made it five-straight top-three finishes when he claimed third prize in a BM68 Hcp over 1100m at Morphettville.
Carrying 60.5kgs, Todd Pannell settled him back in the field before tracking wide near the turn, then as the widest runner began the chore of making up the ground and coming down the centre of the track, did well to arrive in time and grab the minor prize in the race.
Returning to provincial company here, he draws wide in gate 10 where he maps to settle in the back-half of the field with Pannell in control again for this assignment.
A track specialist here, he boasts three wins at the track to date and over the 1200m here, he looks a strong chance of figuring in the finish of this contest.
Race 4: No.11 Uptown Monk
The Clarken & Sorby-trained galloper is three starts into this preparation and looks well placed here for back-to-back success in this event.
Last start, the Tagaloa gelding was third-up and showing a ton of improvement, clobbered his rivals in a Rating 0-56 over 1400m at Balaklava.
Kayla Crowther settled him towards the rear early before creeping closer to the turn where he scouted wide then on straightening, Crowther steered him back to the inside where he secured a split between runners and powered home to score by more than two lengths on the line.
Stepping-up to the mile trip here, he jumps from barrier eight and maps to settle in the back half of the field with Crowther calling the shots again.
Down 2kgs from last start and at his peak, the four-year-old looks every chance of making his track debut a winning one in this contest.
Race 6: No.7 Common Interest
Team Jolly saddles-up Common Interest here who is second-up and looking to go one better in this event.
Last start, the Ole Kirk gelding resumed after 18 weeks off the scene and impressed when he beat all but one home in a BM64 over 1250m on the Parks circuit at Morphettville.
From barrier eight (of 12), Jake Toeroek settled him back in the field on the fence and improved to be mid-field on the turn, then in the run home he was blocked for a run and never saw daylight to the final 100m and while no chance of catching the winner, still ran home strongly to grab second prize on the day.
Drawn much better in gate two here, he maps to settle near mid-field on the fence with Toeroek in the saddle once more.
The step-up to the 1400m looks ideal here and with a little more luck in the run home, the four-year-old looks primed to fight out the finish in this contest.
