Race 2: No.1 Awarded Glory
On a seven-day back-up here, the Trevor Whittington-trained galloper is third-up and can figure in the finish of this event.
Last start, the Shamus Award gelding finished fourth in a Maiden Hcp over 1305m at Coffs Harbour.
On a Heavy 10 that day, he settled last of the seven runners and while still seeing them all on straightening, he finished off strongly, doing his best work over the final 100m in the race.
The step-up to 1720m today looks ideal for him where he draws gate nine and maps to settle back in the field with Jon Grisedale in the saddle again.
Fitter for two runs back and with the extra ground on his side, the three-year-old looks well worth an each-way ticket in this contest.
Race 4: No.3 Chilled With Ice
The Matt Dunn-trained galloper is second-up today and ticks enough boxes to suggest he can find the podium in this event.
Last start, the Frosted gelding resumed after nine months off the scene and in need of the run, finished unplaced in a Class 3 Plate over 1000m at the Gold Coast.
On a Heavy 8, Jett Newman settled him back in the field and lacking condition, he finished down the track.
Meeting similar company here, he steps up to 1115m today where he draws nicely in gate four and maps to settle just behind the early speed with Jake Bayliss as the new pilot.
Already a winner when second-up and has had success at the track, a ticket on both totes looks the way to go with him in this contest.
Race 6: No.1 My Mum’s Toyboy
Second-up today, the Brett Dodson-trained galloper stands out highly in this field and looks set for back-to-back victories in this event.
Last start, the Australian-bred gelding resumed after six months in the paddock and just picked-up where he left off, landing his fourth-straight win, clobbering an Open Hcp field over 1010m at Port Macquarie.
Even after the claim by Grady Spokes, he still had to lump 62kgs on a Soft 7, and did it easily as he came from behind and went on to score by almost four lengths on the line.
Even fitter off that first-up win, he draws well in gate six where speed maps have him settling mid-field or better with Justin Stanley aboard for the first time.
The track specialist boasts six wins from his nine starts here and already a two-time winner second-up, he looks the testing material in this contest.
Race 8: No.7 On My Command
Down in the weights today, the John Shelton-trained galloper is yet to miss a podium finish after four starts and ticks enough boxes here to suggest she can give this event a real fright.
Last start, the Astern mare kept her record intact when she finished top-three again, beating all but one home in a BM58 over 1050m at Inverell.
Lumping 60kgs that day, Ben Looker had her settled fourth on the fence to the turn, then in the run home, spotting them five lengths, ran home strongly to grab second prize over the line.
Stepping-up to 1215m here, she draws barrier eight and maps to push forward and cross to settle in the first half-dozen.
Apprentice Grace Palmer is the new pilot and after her claim, the mare drops 7kgs from that last start effort and will carry just 53kgs today,
Already a winner at the track and with that big drop in weight, the four-year-old looks major threat to her rivals in this contest.
