Race 1: No.1 Sun To Me
The Paul Perry-trained galloper is high flying after two runs back and looks set for another bold showing in this event.
Last start, the Cosmic Force gelding came off a first-up win at Tuncurry when he beat all but home in a Class 1 Hcp over 1250m at Newcastle.
From gate one, Jessica Taylor settled him mid-field on the fence to the turn then coming off heels he ran home strongly but couldn’t match it with the winner, taking home second prize on the day.
Meeting similar company today, he jumps from barrier eight and maps to cross and settle in the back half of the field with Regan Bayliss as the new pilot.
Even fitter for those two runs back, the four-year-old is a genuine winning chance in this contest.
Race 5: No.5 Unbridled Storm
The Chris Waller-trained galloper is in great touch this preparation and is well placed here to give this event a real shake.
Last start, the Puissance de Lune gelding found the podium again when he finished third in a BM72 over 1600m at Warwick Farm.
Tim Clark settled him mid-field on the fence to the turn, then sticking to the inside he secured a rails-run and boxed on strongly to end up in a photo for second prize, out-bobbed on the line.
Down in grade today, he lines-up in BM64 company and has Jason Collett back for his second ride on the gelding where he gets the gun-run from gate one and maps to settle near mid-field.
Returning to country class racing and at his peak, the five-year-old looks the testing material in this contest.
Race 7: No.5 Portico
Michael Freedman saddles-up Portico here who is in good touch after three runs back and should now be ready to produce his best in this event.
Last start, the Exceed And Excel colt made it back-to-back podium finishes when claimed third prize in a Class 1 Hcp over 1000m at Kembla Grange.
From a wide draw, Rory Hutchings had him settled mid-field to the turn but was trapped four-wide before scouting even wider on straightening, then fought on strongly in the run to the line and was only beaten half a length in the end.
He comes up with the outside gate (11) here where he maps to cross and settle near mid-field with Hutchings in the saddle again.
If he can overcome the wide gate and settle early, the Godolphin colt has fitness on his side now and with a clear run to the line, should prove hard to hold out in this contest.
