The David Payne-trained galloper is second-up here and ticks enough boxes to suggest he can give this event a real shake.
Last start, the Shamus Award gelding resumed off a 13-week spell and on need of the run, finished fifth in a BM64 Hcp over 1300m at Hawkesbury.
Always well back in the run, he never stopped chasing and finished off well to beat several home in the end.
Stepping-up to the mile trip here, he gets the gun-run from gate one and maps to settle mid-field on the fence with Ash Morgan retaining the ride for this assignment.
Fitter for that first-up effort and already a winner at the track and distance, he looks a serious contender for the major prize in this contest.
Race 6: No.4 Where’s My Halo
The Ron Quinton-trained galloper is high-flying after three starts back and looks in line for back-to-back success at odds in this event,
Last start, the Hallowed Crown mare racked-up win number two when she took out a Class 1/Maiden over 1850m at Newcastle.
Keagan Latham was aboard for the first time and from gate seven (of 11), settled the mare back in the field before coming off heels on the turn, then in the run home, finished over the top of them to claim the gold medal for the race.
Rising to the 2070m here, he draws barrier eight and maps to settle back in the field with Latham steering the ship again.
Fourth-up and at his peak here, he should be running on at the finish and looks well worth an each-way ticket in this contest.
Race 8: No.3 Lego Master
Bjorn Baker saddles-up Lego Master here who is third-up and looks every chance of bouncing back to figure in this event.
Last start, the Graff gelding came off a first-up Maiden win over 1200m when he stepped-up in grade and finished unplaced in a Class 1 Hcp over the longer 1400m trip at Newcastle.
Settling second, he sat outside the leader without cover to the turn, then threatened to take over but in the final 200m, struggled to match it with them and after copping a bump, weakened out of it, beaten three lengths in the end.
Facing BM64 company here, he draws barrier eight and maps to settle better than mid-field with Dylan Gibbons back for the ride after steering him to that Maiden win two starts back.
The big selling point here is dropping back to the 1200m trip where he is already a winner and fitter for those two runs back, he looks in the mix for victory in this contest.
