Eagle Farm racing takes place on Saturday, June 1, with the nine-race program set for QLD Derby Day.
We have the best bets picked out from across day with value selections for Eagle Farm Racecourse.
Race 2: No. 17 Sha Of Gomer
Just missed when resuming at Ipswich a couple of weeks ago and the Chris Waller trained gelding will take plenty of benefit out of that run .
He has a win and two seconds from three starts over 1400m at Eagle Farm, and one of those runner up results came last prep in this same grade of racing.
Nash Rawiller has been booked to ride which is a positive and he’s drawn well in barrier nine.
Race 3: No. 5 Goldman
At one point in time he’d won five of his first seven career starts but last campaign he failed to fire a shot.
The Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott trained gelding returned to a semblance of his best form when second to Huetor first up at Randwick provided hope he’s back in form.
He will be nearing peak fitness now at his third run and the step up in distance, as well as the sting out of the track, will be of benefit.
Race 6: No. 17 Stefi Magnetica
A classy filly who closed out her autumn campaign with a narrow defeat behind the multiple Group 1 winning filly Tropical Squall in the Surround Stakes.
She was freshened up for the QLD winter and made up considerable ground late against the older horses in the Group 1 Doomben 10,000 to finish within 1.5 lengths of Bella Nipotina.
Avoiding weight-for-age conditions was the correct call and she looks much better placed in this race where she will be tough to beat with even luck.
Race 9: No. 13 Enterprise Pomme
A string of three placings in row was broken two weeks ago but this mare flashed home to finish two lengths from the winner after being 14th at the 800m.
She steps up to 1200m which is the distance where all five of her career wins have been recorded.
They have changed tactics wit her on a number of occasions so she has proven to be versatile and I wouldn’t be surprised if they take her to the front from barrier nine.
She represents great each way value at her current quote.
