Race 4: No.3 Toesonthenose
The Jack Bruce-trained galloper has found his mojo after four start back and looks well placed here to strike up another victory in this event.
Last start, the Ocean Park gelding was fourth-up and saluted for the seventh time when he won an Open company event over 1400m at the Gold Coast.
He tackles a BM85 contest here with Damien Thornton returning for the ride and from gate nine, will need a little luck to cross and settle near mid-field.
Placed twice in two starts at ‘the Farm’, he has sound wet track form so conditions won’t disadvantage him.
A trouble-free run here can see him figure in this contest.
Race 5: No.5 Anemacore
The Shaun Dwyer-trained Anemacore is in great touch this time in and at his peak, looks a genuine winning chance in this event.
Last start, the Unusual Suspect gelding came off three-straight podium finishes and just missed making it four when finishing fourth in a BM80, here over 1820m.
Settling mid-field, he ran home gamely but just couldn’t quite reel in the placegetters, beaten lees than a length on the line.
He takes on Open company here and drops 3.5kgs in the process with Jimmy Byrne returning for his third ride on the galloper.
Drawn much better here in gate three, he will do no early work to settle mid-field on the fence and with an easier run, he looks in the mix for a victory in this contest.
Race 7: No.6 Tojaki
The Stuart Kendrick-trained Tojaki is second-up here and with a major gear change, looks a worthy contestant in this event.
Last start, the Zoustar mare resumed after 19 weeks off the scene and in need of the run, finished mid-field in a BM78, here over 1200m with Ryan Maloney in the saddle.
Fitter for that run, she will find the 1400m trip here a lot more suitable where she draws well in gate five and maps to settle in the first half-dozen.
Jake Bayliss has shared two wins and a runner-up finish with the mare from four previous rides and returns here to steer the ship for this assignment with the stable also deciding to fit the blinkers for the first time.
Already a winner when second-up and has had success at the track and distance, the five-year-old ticks enough boxes to suggest she will be a force at the business end of this contest.
