Race 1 No.1- Aleppo Pine
Aleppo Pine should find this easier than recent runs. The Godolphin galloper was a winner at Ballarat last year then pulled up lame when resuming in the Blue Diamond Prelude (1100m). He was thrown into the deep end in the Group 2 Todman Stakes (1200m) after that and did well to finish just over two lengths in 7th position behind his stablemate, Tentyris, when never really getting a clear crack at them. Form from that has held up with th runner-up, Wodeton, going close in the Golden Slipper (1200m). The son of Blue Point draws to enjoy a nice run from barrier 2 and will find this easier.
Race 2 No.9- Heart Of Glass
Heart Of Glass can go one spot better than a first up effort that saw her finish runner-up on March 15. That came at Caulfield over the 1200m and she settled back from the barrier before working home well to land half a length off the winner, Taatsumaki. The Tony & Calvin McEvoy-trained galloper went 11.2 lengths faster than standard benchmark, on the back off what was a solid early tempo. She was an improver on figures when second up at his last campaign and just needs to land within striking distance early on from barrier 6.
Race 6 No.4- Denmark
Denmark can be an improver in Race 6. The Chris Waller galloper could only manage 6th when resuming at Moonee Valley over the 1500m but wasn't suited by the distance, as well as the conditions on the day that made it hard to make ground. He was an improver at his last campaign when stepping up in journey second up to win at Newcastle before performing well in a series of races in Melbourne, including one when unlucky over the 2000m here. The son of Camelot does have scope to settle closer in this race and should be suited by the likely speed that Golden Crusader will inject into the race.
Race 7 No. 9- Thames
Going with Thames in Race 7. The Godolphin galloper has been solid in her two runs this time in with a couple of minor placings and went for home a fraction early at Sandown last time when grabbed late over the 1300m by Zloties, putting a gap on the rest. She went 5.5 lengths faster than standard, which is the second best last start figure of any runner. The daughter of Lonhro comes into this third up and her best form does seem to be over the 1200m, while she is just 0.5kg above the minimum weight.
