The Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott trained colt was bought for $2.6 million at the 2023 Magic Millions and is out of a mare called Solar Charged who was also the dam for champion sprinter mare Sunlight.
He couldn’t have been any more impressive when winning on a heavy track at Warwick Farm on debut by two lengths and I loved the way he raced right away in the concluding stages of the race.
He’ll take benefit out of that run and, with that experience, looks tough to beat.
Race 6: No. 12 Go Wandji
This lightly raced six-year-old gelding has been a consistent performer over his short career, placing in 14 of 16 starts.
He stormed home from 12th on the turn when resuming at Eagle Farm over 1000m to get to within two lengths of the winner and will be better on top of the rain with little rain expected in Brisbane before Saturday.
The step up in distance will suit and I’m expecting him to run a huge race at a massive price!
Race 7: No. 5 Thalassophile
Was racing well without winning during the autumn in some high grade races in which she had little luck in running.
She returned to the winners’ stall on the Sunshine Coast two weeks ago when she stormed clear over 1400m at Listed level.
She meets a horse like Princess Rhaeneys better at the weights in this event and she has a fitness edge over a fair few of these.
I can’t see why she won’t be winning again.
Race 8: No. 3 Amazonian Lass
This classy filly beat home one of the best fillies in the country in Zardozi during the spring when winning the Group 2 Wakeful over 2000m at Flemington.
She was beaten by the barest of margins when first up at Eagle Farm over 1600m and then demolished her rivals in listed Roses at the Sunshine Coast on a heavy track two weeks ago.
Meets a lot of those fillies at the same weight scale and I can’t believe we are getting double figure odds to be honest.
