Race 2: No. 9 Batoka Chief
Three-year-old gelding who made his debut over 1600m at Pakenham and couldn’t have been any more impressive, winning by over two lengths.
He was in a tricky position at one stage but once he found clear air, he extended nicely and went over the line with his ears pricked.
He’ll take improvement out of that run and although this is a sharp step up in grade, he’ll be right in it.
Race 3: No. 5 Donegal
A winner of two of her four career starts, this filly by American Pharoah is already a winner at this track over 1300m.
She was no match for them at Group 3 level at headquarters in February and she has had nine weeks in between runs since her last race.
Both of her wins have been fresh and on a soft track and she represents great each way value at her huge price.
Race 7: No. 2 Let’srollthedice
Was no match for them at Group 3 first up at an unsuitable distance at Caulfield but then heading north to Rosehill where he scored by a small margin in a benchmark 94.
Two of his four career wins have been at 1800m and he drops 1kg on that last start win.
This is a weak race that lacks a lot of depth and he looks the obvious choice from a good draw in barrier three.
Race 9: No. 6 Prince Of Helena
Loved the first up run of this seven year-old gelding at Caulfield where he was last on the turn and made up considerable ground late to finish fourth.
He’s a horse that is a grinding type and needs a while to wind up but with the right run in transit can run a huge race at a massive price.
He finished within 1.4 lengths of Rheinberg at this track and distance back in October 2023 and, with the apprentice’s claim, meets that horse 6.5kg better at the weights in this event.
