Bendigo Racing Tips for September 20 – Savoyard tough to beat in Race 6

Keen on Written Empire in Race 2. The three-year-old made his debut over 1300m at Bendigo earlier this month, settling midfield before taking a little time to build momentum in the straight. He closed off strongly to finish fourth, just half a length behind the winner. The Hayes-trained galloper went 3.7 lengths slower than standard benchmark, which is the best figure any runner in this race has produced. He gives the impression that the step to the 1500m will suit and, unless one of the first starters produces something above average, he should be hard to beat.

Savoyard should be hard to beat in Race 6 at Bendigo. The promising galloper was a debut winner earlier this year and then a narrow runner-up in a $250,000 Class 3 before resuming from a spell with an eye-catching 7th in a BenchMark 74 at Caulfield over the 1100m. The Cliff Brown-trained galloper was held up as they cornered before finishing with the fastest last 200m and within two lengths of Fundamental Nature. He rises in weight but drops significantly in grade, while it is worth noting that he was a nine length improver on benchmark figures at his only second up run.
