Ballarat Racing Tips for November 2 – Star Je Taime to take out the opener at Ballarat

Here are our best bets from the meeting, which also feature in our daily selections.

The opener is a Maiden over the 1600m, and Star Je Taime can break through at her fourth career start. The Danny O’Brien-trained filly was posted three-wide when finishing fifth first-up at Geelong but improved at Kyneton last time, running third behind Tanabata over the 1454m and closing off with the fastest final 200m. The daughter of Snitzel looks well suited by the rise to the 1600m and should be finishing strongly. Expect her to issue a serious challenge late in the piece.

Catwalk Icon can be an improver in Race 7. The four-year-old resumed over the 955m at Cranbourne recently and settled handy but was held up for a run inside the final 200m, eventually finishing fifth behind Magnabelle Royale. She drops slightly in grade here and was a convincing winner at this level when second-up last preparation before stepping out in stronger company. Olivia East takes the ride and has an excellent record when combining with the stable, booting home six winners from just 12 starters for a 51% profit on investment. From barrier two, she can enjoy the perfect run just behind the speed, and the pair should be hard to hold out late.
