Ascot racing takes place on Wednesday, February 12, with a 9-race program set down for Ascot racetrack.

Race 6: No.6 Funchal
Race 8: No.10 Twilight Tale
Race 9: No.5 Infuriated

We have the best bets picked from across the meeting with a Best Bet and other value selections for Ascot racetrack.

Race 6: No.6 Funchal

The Williams training team saddle-up Funchal here who impressed on debut and looks well placed here to go on with it today.

Last start, the Playing God filly had her first race start and sent out favourite, wasted no time making an impression when she won a 1400m Maiden at Bunbury with Clint Johnston-Porter in the saddle.

After settling mid-field on the fence, she worked her way into the race and finished best in the run home to collect the gold medal.

Well drawn in gate four today, she maps to settle mid-field with cover again and has Johnston-Porter steering the ship again.

A repeat of her maiden effort should see her figure in the finish of this contest.

Race 8: No.10 Twilight Tale

The Michael Grantham-trained galloper comes off a debut win here and looks a genuine chance of repeating that effort in this event.

Last start, the well-bred Savabeel filly made every post a winner on debut when she finished best to take out a 1500m Maiden at Pinjarra (on the Scarpside course).

She settled one pair back, one off the fence with the run of the race and enjoyed those benefits as she peeled out on the turn and wore them down to claim a well-deserved victory in the end.

Clint Johnston-Porter had the reins that day and sticks with the filly for this assignment.

Well drawn in gate five today, she maps to settle just behind the speed again and with a clear run to the line, she should prove hard to hold out again.

Race 9: No.5 Infuriated

Another from the Team Williams camp is Infuriated who has improved in all three starts this time in and looks set to strike in this event.

Last start, the Shamus Award gelding was impressive when he beat all but one home in a tough Class 3 over the mile at Pinjarra (Scarpside).

From gate seven, he settled last of the eight and after making up ground, set the best closing splits for the race, passing all but one to take home the silver medal.

Clint Johnston-Porter was in charge that day and is booked for the job in this contest.

He gets the gun-run today in gate one

Fourth-up and at his peak here, his claims to victory are strong and he should prove hard to hold out in this contest.
