Race 2: No.7 Red Light Rachel
The Ben Brisbourne-trained galloper has found her mojo and fourth-up today looks a serious chance of victory in this event.
Last start, the Prague mare stripped fitter off her first two runs this preparation and finally broke through for her first win by taking out a set weights Maiden Plate over 1590m at Wangaratta.
Lachie King settled her mid-field on the fence to the turn where he tracked wide and finishing down the centre of the track, arrived in time to grab the gold medal for the race.
From gate five today, she maps to settle just behind the speed with King calling the shots again.
At her peak after three runs back and in winning form, the four-year-old looks set to go on with it in this contest.
Race 4: No.2 Greatham Boy
The Tim Fitzsimmons-trained galloper is second-up today and ticks enough boxes to suggest he will play a major role in the outcome of this event.
Last start, the Stratosphere gelding resumed off a 13-week spell and in need of the run, finished unplaced in a BM70 over 1100m at Hamilton.
From a wide draw, Mitchell Aitken pushed forward after being caught three-deep early where he eventually settled outside the leader to the turn, then in the run home boxed-on well and wasn’t disgraced when finishing less than three lengths from the winner.
Drawn much better today in gate two, he maps to settle just behind the speed and on the fence with Blaike McDougall as the new pilot.
Already a two-time winner when second-up and fitter off that first-up run, the six-year-old looks in the mix for victory in this contest.
Race 5: No.10 Hazardous
Craig Weeding saddles-up Hazardous here who was impressive on debut and looks well placed here to repeat the dose in this event.
Last start, the Redente filly made her racing debut and did it in style when she took out a set weights Maiden Plate over 1100m at Wodonga.
Justin Stanley settled her mid-field on the fence to the turn before peeling off heels, then in the run home finished too strong for them and crossed the line two lengths clear in the end.
Drawn nicely again in gate two, she maps to settle mid-field or better with Cassidy Hill in the saddle for the first time.
Hard to fault winning form and with a trouble-free run here, the three-year-old looks set to make it two-straight in this contest.
