A big Tuesday morning at the trials at Rosehill, with 16 trials on the morning, including in Heat 1, a Group trial that included the likes of Sunshine In Paris and Amelia’s Jewel. Four horses impressed this morning, to put in your blackbook.

Trial 1 - PRIVATE HARRY

Private Harry put a few wins together on the bounce but really made every stand up and take notice with a dominant 2.5 length victory against Lady Of Camelot on the Gold Coast in the 3YO Magic Millions classic. He has returned off a freshen-up and appears to have returned in outstanding order, with a really slick trial here against a G1 sprinter Sunshine In Paris, who was under light riding to try and stick with Private Harry, who was under a strong hold.

Trial 5 - GRAND EAGLE

A two-year-old son of Farnan impressed this morning and put his hand up as a really promising young colt. He sat outside the leader, travelled up under his own steam and showed terrific acceleration under little to no urging to win the trial by 2.5L in slick time and it could’ve been better too if asked for an effort. He holds nominations for both the Golden Slipper and the Inglis Sires and it wouldn’t be a shock to see him get to either race on the back of his work this morning.

Trial 12 - NEPOTISM

This is a two-year-old Brutal colt trained by team Hawkes by the name of Nepotism. He settled on-speed and was forced to chase the tearaway leader Archimage who was approximately 8-10 lengths clear of Nepotism around the home turn. I really liked the way the Brutal colt pinned the ears back and lengthed with good change up speed under a hold over the last 100m. He is another that is nominated for both the Golden Slipper and Inglis Sires.

Trial 13 - ICHIBAN KOJI

The two-year-old Blue Point colt in the Chris Waller barn looks to have above average ability, despite only seeing two very quiet trials from him. In his first trial prior to today, he got dropped and was outsped coming to the home turn but closed off so well that the jockey was overreacting to grab hold across the line. In this trial, he settled just behind the leaders and the heat, which was run in fast time and was contested by a few who were being ridden out whilst this colt was holding his ground very nicely under a strong grip. I expect that there is plenty under the hood.
