Wodonga racing takes place on Friday, November 29, with an eight-race program for the Victorian meeting.

Wodonga Race 1 No. 7- El Fortress


El Fortress should be hard to beat in the opener. The three-year-old has had two career starts and has finished runner-up in both of those. He resumed from a spell at Echuca over the 1000m recently and settled in a midfield spot before straightening up and finishing off with the fastest last 400m and 200m to just miss behind Ohshe’Strouble, gapping the rest of the field. Step up to the 1200m looks ideal and this is a weak race. 

Wodonga Race 3 No. 4- Bellarchi


Going with Bellarchi in Race 3. The Trent Busuttin & Natalie Young-trained galloper was solid on debut at Warrnambool when 5th behind Cora Lynn, who has form around Catoggio in the lead up to that. Bellarchi settled handy at the ‘Bool before just tiring late, going 0.9 lengths slower than standard, which is a better figure than what any horse in this race has produced. He will strip fitter for this assignment and is a great chance of breaking through. 

Wodonga Race 5 No. 8- Grey Northern


Grey Northern should find this easier than a last start effort that saw her finish 8th at Flemington over the 1400m during the carnival. The Simon Zahra-trained galloper settled midfield in that race and was held up from the 500m to the 300m before sticking on ok. She was solid prior to that when working home well over the 1600m at Ballarat and gets back up to that distance. The five-year-old draws perfectly in barrier 4 and can launch at them late. 

Wodonga Race 6 No. 1- Rheinberg


Rheinberg can go close in the Wodonga Cup. The six-year-old carts top weight of 59.5kg but has a bit of a class edge and just faded late on Melbourne Cup day when attempting to lead all the way over the 1400m, eventually placing 5th, beaten a length by Bel Air. He was fresh off a 10-week break that day and will strip fitter for this assignment. The Team Hayes galloper has the speed to cross over from barrier 13 and will be in it for a long way.
