We have the best bets picked from across the meeting with a Best Bet and other value selections for  Wagga racetrack.

Race 6: No.6  Winning Witness

The Libby Haworth-trained galloper has improved at each start this preparation and fourth-up today looks a prime candidate for the major prize in this event.

Last start, the Star Witness mare took on Class 3 company on the Riverside track here and did well to beat all but one home over the 1200m trip with Jason Lyon aboard.

Slowly away, she settled near last in the field before weaving her way through traffic in the run home and arriving in time to claim the silver medal in the race.

Nicely drawn in gate five, she maps to settle back in the field again where she meets similar company over the same trip and has Lyon steering the ship again.

At her peak today, a trouble-free run can see her there at the finish in this contest.

Race 7: No.11  Light Foot

Danny Beasley saddles-up Light Foot here who resumes after six months in the paddock and dropping sharply in grade, looks a serious threat to this field.

Last start, the well-bred Shooting To Win mare stepped-up from a BM58 win at Corowa and lined up in the Group 3  Alexandra Stakes at Moonee Valley where she was never in the hunt, finishing down the track in the 1600m black-type event.

Drawn the outside gate (10), the four-year-old settled back in the field where she overraced early and had nothing left to offer in the run home, beaten before the turn.

Clearly, she wasn’t ready for the huge class rise or the step-up to the mile trip.

Dropping back to BM66 company here, she draws gate seven and maps to settle near mid-field with John Kissick back in the saddle, after steering her to that Corowa win two starts back.

Already a winner when first-up and back to a more competitive grade, a clear run to the line here and she can claim first prize on fresh legs in this contest.

Race 8: No.1  King Incanto

The Andrew Dale-trained galloper pops over the border (from Victoria) here and second-up today, looks set to give this event a real shake today.

Last start, the Per Incanto gelding had his first start for the Dale stable and fresh after eight months off the scene, wasn’t disgraced when finishing fourth in a BM56 over 1000m at Tatura.

Cory Parish had the reins that day and after settling last early, he scouted wide on the turn and finished strongly to cross the line just over a length behind the winner that day.

Second-up here, he steps-up to a more suitable distance tackling the 1300m trip today with Parish retaining the ride with the stable fitting the blinkers for the first time.

From gate seven, he maps to settle back in the field again but fitter for that first-up effort and covering more ground today, he looks well placed to challenge for the first prize in this contest.
