Race 4: No.3 Bright Mortar
The Tony Cruz-trained galloper resumes from the season break here and ticks enough boxes to suggest he can play a major role in the outcome of this event.
Last start, the Starspangledbanner gelding resumed off a six-month absence and on the all-weather track, did well to beat all but one home in a Class 4 Hcp, here over 1200m.
Jumping from the carpark in gate 11 (of 12), Angus Chung settled him back in the field to the turn then in the run home, he was spotting the leader a dozen lengths but threaded his way through traffic to wind-up in second place over the line.
Drawn better today in gate seven, he maps to settle closer to mid-field with Chung in the saddle again for this assignment.
Back on the turf track today, he already a track and distance winner and with a clear run here, the five-year-old looks well worth an each-way ticket in this contest.
Race 9: No.1 Chill Buddy
Ricky Yiu saddles-up Chill Buddy here who has the resume that suggests he can give this event a real fright at odds today.

From gate two, Joao Moreira took him straight to the lead where he set an honest pace to the turn, then in the run home, Moreira asked him for more where he obliged and held off the challenges to go on and score by half a length on the line.
A track and trip specialist here, he gets the gun-run from gate one and has Jerry Chau as the new pilot for this assignment.
Already a winner when first-up and a two-time winner at Sha Tin, the five-year-old looks a genuine winning chance and a ticket on both totes is well advised.
Race 10: No.12 Nyx Gluck
The Danny Shum-trained galloper ended his last campaign on a high and looks all set here to pick up where he left off in this event.
Last start, the Redwood gelding finished the season on a high when he took out a Class 4 Hcp, here over 1400m.
Carrying 61kgs and drawn in gate 12 that day, Zac Purton couldn’t cross so he dropped back and shared last place, caught three-wide in the process to the turn, where he scouted even wider, then on straightening as the widest runner, stormed home to grab the gold medal by more than a length on the line.
Stepping-up to Class 3 grade today, he gets the gun-run from gate one and maps to settle near mid-field on the fence with Purton at the helm again.
He is up in grade but drops 6kgs for the challenge and so well drawn as well, he will take a ton of beating in this contest.
