Race 3: No.3 Ocean Tsunami
The Scott Singleton-trained galloper is third-up today and coming off a metropolitan success, looks the stand-out horse in this event.
Last start, the well-bred Ocean Park mare improved off her first-up effort when she took out a Class 3 Hcp over 1600m at Randwick.
Well ridden by Zac Lloyd, he had the mare settled three pairs back one off the fence to the turn before peeling off heels and in the run home, finished too strong for them and crossed the line ahead of the race favourite (Bluish Hue), taking home the major money.
Dropping back to country class racing today, she draws gate three and maps to settle just behind the speed with Jasmine Urquhart-Warren as the new pilot.
After the claim, she carries a half kilo less than her last-start win in the small six-runner field (after early scratchings).
Already a winner when third-up and coming off a metropolitan victory, she should prove too good for these in this contest.
Race 6: No.5 Pure Motive
Team Cavanough saddle-up Pure Motive here who is having her second race start and looks set for back-to-back success in this event.
Last start, the Cosmic Force mare made her racing debut and did it in style when she destroyed her rivals in a Maiden Hcp over 900m at Muswellbrook.
Sent out a $2.30 favourite, Mitchell Bell settled her second last in the seven-horse field to the turn before tracking wide then in the run home, she came down the centre of the track and after grabbing the lead inside the final 200m, raced away to score by almost four lengths on the line.
Jumping from gate six today, she is expected to settle in the back half of the field with Bell steering the ship again.
The step-up to the 1100m looks ideal for her now in this Class 1 challenge.
There is plenty of upside with this mare and given a clear run to the line, the four-year-old should prove hard to hold out in this contest.
Race 7: No.4 Kermitisapet
The Tim McIntosh-trained galloper is in great touch this time in and looks well placed here for back-to-back success in this event.
Last start, the Kermadec mare improved off her first two runs back and clobbered her rivals in a Class 1 Hcp over 1150m at Newcastle (on the Beaumont circuit).
Last out of the gates, she settled eight lengths off the speed early to the turn before scouting wide then on straightening showed an amazing turn-of-foot and passed them all, then went on to score by more than three lengths on the line.
From gate six, she maps to settle back in the field with Reece Jones steering the ship again.
This BM58 looks no harder and at her peak today, the five-year-old looks the testing material in this contest.
