- Bella Cinque, Two To Tango and Our Pierro are also highlighted as strong chances.
- Several debutants in Race 3 mean market moves could be significant.
Mornington racing takes place on Tuesday, November 10, with a quality meeting set down for Mornington.
- Race 3 No.8 – Pinamilloy
- Race 6 No.4 – Bella Cinque
- Race 7 No.4 – Two To Tango
- Race 8 No.4 – Our Pierro
Here are our best bets from the meeting, which also feature in our Tuesday tips.
Race 3 No.8 – Pinamilloy
Pinamilloy has shown enough promise in her three career starts to suggest a maiden victory isn't far away. The Jason Warren-trained filly has placed in all three outings, finishing third on debut at Swan Hill before enduring a wide run without cover at Cranbourne over 1000m, where she missed out by half a length behind Fontelicious. She closed that preparation with a third on the Ballarat synthetic track and has since shown promise in three jump-outs, finishing close up in the latest two, including one at Mornington. Her last two race performances returned benchmark figures four and six lengths slower than standard respectively, both superior to anything the other runners in this field have produced. There are five debutants to contend with, some of whom have trialled well, so market moves will be worth monitoring. However, Pinamilloy has the pick of the exposed form, draws perfectly in barrier five and should enjoy an economical run just behind the speed. Strong chance.
Race 6 No.4 – Bella Cinque
Bella Cinque is a major player when she tackles the 1000m at Mornington once again. The Logan McGill-trained mare has finished runner-up in two of her past three starts, including her most recent appearance at this track and distance, where she led before being run down by Ilovediamonds. She was just a little keen on that occasion and perhaps could have been allowed to stride along more freely after the tempo steadied. Ilovediamonds has since won again at Mornington but meets Bella Cinque 5.5kg worse off at the weights this time. Bella Cinque has drawn barrier nine, although that should allow her time to settle into stride before taking up a handy position. She should be at peak fitness, has finished in the first three in four of six starts at the track and distance and looks set to give another honest account.
Race 7 No.4 – Two To Tango
Two To Tango can be a sharp improver when she steps out in Race 7. The Hayes-trained mare has had two runs this preparation, encountering a few excuses when resuming at Pakenham before racing a touch keenly at Swan Hill, although she still closed off reasonably well for fourth over 1200m in Benchmark 62 company. She improved dramatically third-up last preparation, lifting her benchmark figures by 11 lengths when progressing from a third at Sale in a Benchmark 62 to a runner-up finish behind Concorde Connie in a Benchmark 70 at Flemington. That mare subsequently placed in the Empire Rose Stakes. Two To Tango now drops to Benchmark 56 company, the easiest race she has contested since winning her maiden earlier this year, and brings the best last-start benchmark figures of any runner in the field. Jackson Radley rides and claims 1.5kg. She should be hard to beat.
Race 8 No.4 – Our Pierro
It was a promising return by Our Pierro at Kyneton last month, and the Hayes-trained mare can finish the day a winner. Although only sixth over 1479m, her performance was better than it looked. They went reasonably hard and she made up plenty of ground, appearing a genuine winning chance with 200m remaining before peaking late to finish just over two lengths from the winner. She also lost some ground at the start. That effort returned a benchmark figure just 1.8 lengths slower than standard, the best last-start rating in this field apart from Express Guard and comfortably ahead of most of her rivals. Our Pierro gets the winkers on, draws barrier four and should appreciate the slight rise to 1500m, although she may ultimately be looking for further. She improved with racing during her debut preparation, winning third-up over a longer trip at Kyneton, and should have plenty of upside second-up here. Nadia Daniels rides and claims 2kg, having enjoyed a strong association with the stable. This looks a weak race, and Our Pierro should be rounding them up late. She may well be featuring in stronger company over the summer.
