Randwick racing takes place on Saturday, April 6, with the 10-race program set for Day 1 of The Championships.

Race 1: No. 4 Roselyn’s Star
Ran into one better in the form of Gatsby’s when making his debut at Canterbury in the pouring rain but was only run over very late and they gapped the third horse home by a further 2.5 lengths.
The third horse home that day was Silmarillion and he came within a head of winning the Group 2 Reisling Stakes at his next start.
Roselyn’s Star couldn’t have been anymore dominant in an arrogant win on the Kensington track last start and while the margin was three lengths, it could have been a lot more if Nash Rawiller wasn’t so kind late.
Race 6: No. 1 Storm Boy
For the first time in his career the star colt couldn’t settle on pace in the Golden Slipper and although he was game, he tasted defeat for the first time in five starts.
The son of Justify was up to his old tricks out of the barriers as well when missing the kick by a couple of lengths which cost him dearly.
I have always been of the opinion that the horse will be better over distance and he’ll appreciate the step up to 1400m for this contest.
The premiere hoop in the world jumps back aboard in James McDonald which will help his chances.
Race 7: No. 11 Sunshine In Paris
The upside for this Anaabel Neasham trained four-year-old mare is enormous and she proved her quality when beaten a head in the Group 1 Galaxy first up after a 28 week gap in runs.
She’s yet to miss a place from seven career starts that has included four wins one of which came in the Group 1 Surround Stakes as a filly.
This is a top quality Group 1 race and she’ll need to take another step forward but at nice each way odds I’m willing to find out whether she’s up to it.
Race 9: No. 1 Riff Rocket
The Chris Waller trained son of American Pharaoh has proven himself the premiere staying three-year-old of this crop but has been disrespected a bit by the market here.
He won his second Group 1 in the Rosehill Guineas two weeks ago, storming over his rivals late to score by just under a length.
We know he runs the distance because he won the VRC Derby in the Spring and James McDonald climbs back aboard for the first time since that win.
