Morphettville racing takes place on Saturday, April 25 with an nine-race program set down for the Group 1 Day.
We have the best bets picked from across the meeting with a Best Bet and other value selections for Morphettville racetrack.
Race 6: No.2 Tycoon Star
The Team Hates-trained galloper has come back in good touch and third-up here looks a major player for the big prize in this event.
Last start, the Written Tycoon colt faced his second-straight Listed event and did well to beat all but one home (again) in the Redelva Stakes, here over 1100m.
Daniel Stackhouse settled him fourth behind the speed to the turn, then securing an inside run, ran home strongly and briefly hit the lead before being grabbed right on the line by a swooper, beaten a whisker.
Fitter for those two runs back, he draws well in gate six where he maps to settle in the first half-dozen with visiting Sydney jockey James McDonald in the saddle for the first time.
A trouble-free run here should see him there at the finish.
Race 7: No.2 Getta Good Feeling
The Danny O’Brien-trained galloper is in top-shelf form after two runs back and ticks the right boxes here to suggest the hat-trick can happen in this event.
Last start, the So You Think filly went back-to-back when second-up she claimed victory in the Group 3 Alexandra Stakes over 1600m at Caulfield.
Sent out a white-hot $1.45 elect, she didn’t disappoint, getting the job done in the end with Billy Egan aboard.
Facing her third Group 1 challenge here, she draws well in gate five and maps to be near the speed on settling.
Egan steers the ship again and from a good gate, with a clear run to the line, the filly will take beating in this contest.
Race 8: No.5 Super Smink
Daniel Morton saddles-up Super Smink here who is second-up and looks a good chance for back-to-back success in this event.
Last start, the Super One mare resumed after 17 weeks off the scene and impressed with a good win in the Group 3 R N Irwin Stakes, here over 1100m.
From the outside gate (10), she settled last in the field and took the turn as the widest runner before finishing best to mow them all down and grab the win on the post with Jacob Opperman in the saddle.
The West Australian visitor backs-up here in search of her first Group 1 success where she draws gate nine and maps to settle back in the field again with Craig Williams aboard for his second ride on the mare.
Sound first-up, and boasting two wins when second-up to date, the five-year-old will strip fitter here and looks well worth an each-way ticket in this contest.
