Moonee Valley Racing Tips for October 4 - Lazy Susan to fly over the 1000m under the Valley lights

We have the best bets picked out from across the day with value selections for Moonee Valley Racecourse.

We tackle the marathon trip of the 3000m in Race 2 and Brilliant Venture shapes as a solid player, despite drawing barrier 13. I expect the eight-year-old to punch forward in the early stages and he has been tough throughout his current preparation with a win and three placings from his past five starts. The eight-year-old has been mixing it with Prvileged Son in recent times and led two starts ago but was a tad keen when just missing out behind Cable Dancer in a BenchMark 70 at Sandown over the 2400m. At his latest, he went for home a fraction early at Flemington when 3rd. He was excellent at Moonee Valley behind the handy Dashing Duchess four starts ago and I suspect he will be suited at the track. 

Some promising gallopers feature in Race 3 and Lazy Suzan can go one spot better than a first up effort that saw her finish runner-up behind Isthmus at Sandown on September 4 over the 1000m. She settled handy but the leader was too good and has since won at Flemington. She comes back to the Valley and has placed in all four of her runs at the trip, splitting Animatu and Sans Doute at her only go over the 1000m. Look for her to tuck in handy from barrier 7 with Celine Gaudray on board. 

Fission is an each-way contender in Race 6. The five-year-old draws the inside barrier and I am keen to see Luke Nolen punch up in the early stages to sit leaders back after opting to get back from the same draw at Sandown over the 1000m last time when 5th behind Isthmus. Form at the track and trip is solid with two wins and five minors from eight starts. The son of Russian Revolution comes in with the best last start benchmark figures of any runner and worth noting that Nolen has combined with the Griffiths/De Kock stable on 13 occasions for four wins, providing a 54% profit on turnover for punters.
