Doomben racing takes place on Wednesday, September 18 with a seven-race program set for the QLD metro meeting.

Race 4: No. 1 American Phireball
Race 5: No. 3 Who Ordered Dafish
Race 6: No. 12 Kelly’s Landing
Race 7: No. 14 New Hampshire

We have the best bets picked out from across day with value selections for Doomben Racecourse.

Race 4: No. 1 American Phireball

This is a consistent and lightly raced five-year-old gelding who has managed to place in six of his last eight starts.

He won a class one here at Doomben third up and was beaten half a length in a class three last time out at this track and distance.

The step down in grade is a good move and fitness will not be a concern at this stage of his campaign.

Race 5: No. 3 Who Ordered Dafish

Broke through for his maiden race win when first up last campaign, scoring by 2.5 lengths at Warwick.

The second win of that prep then came at Ipswich with another dominant display over 1666m and although this is short of his preferred distance I expect him to run really well with the apprentice claiming.

Race 6: No. 12 Kelly’s Landing

Was well beaten when making her debut at Doomben back in April but she was very green and did a lot wrong.

The break obviously did her a world of good and she came back a more mature mare as evident with her six length win first up at Kilcoy.

Should get to the front from barrier one and be tough to run down again with added fitness.

Race 7: No. 14 New Hampshire (SCRATCHED)

This five-year-old gelding has just the one win from 18 career race starts but placed in his first two starts this campaign.

Nothing went right for him on the Sunshine Coast so I’m willing to forgive the run and at a big price I think he is worth an each way play at a big price in the last.
