Race 5 2:35pm FILLIES CLASSIC Tips
Punters should forget the run of Heresy last time out. The James Cummings-trained runner had no luck when travelling into the race, so it pays to look at her earlier form. She is knocking on the door of a big run and having Damien Oliver in the saddle is ideal.
Maracana and Fortunate Kiss have upside, but punters get value with Heresy.
Race 6 3:10pm SCHWEPPES CRYSTAL MILE Tips
Elephant is the class runner of this field, and although beaten last start, he didn’t have all favours. The Kiwi is a smart type, and with six wins from eight starts, he is the testing material in this field. Punters have come for him in early markets.
Buffalo River has his third run in three weeks. He should like conditions, so he’s a quinella hope.
Race 7 3:45pm DRUMMOND GOLF VASE Tips
We are very keen on Forgot You. He is on track for the Derby in two weeks' time, and there has been a stack of money come for him. He’s unbeaten in two starts at Moonee Valley, and he should finish over the top of them.
Punters will have to take an odds-on quote, but he looks like a good bet.
Randwick
Race 3 1:40pm DAILY PRESS BRIAN CROWLEY STAKES Tips
Able Willie was impressive when winning by 2.5 lengths on debut. He defied a small betting drift to score with ease, and he looks like a smart type in the making. The well-bred son of Written Tycoon will need luck from the draw, but some serious money is coming his way.
Mazu and Zarastro have upside, so it could pay to watch betting moves on the day.
Race 8 4:45pm BONDI STAKES Tips
Hilal finished over the top of them last start, but we think Coastwatch is the runner to follow. He had to wait for the gaps to open last start, and he fought bravely despite not having any momentum. That is the sign of a quality type, and Chris Waller has a big opinion of this colt.
We wouldn’t be leaving Hilal out of selections, as he’s equally as talented.
Doomben
Race 1 11:38am MOET & CHANDON BM90 Tips
Most of the money has come for Honorable Spirit, who has been in excellent form. He owns four wins and two second placings from his last six starts, which is an exceptional recent record. He scored by a nose last start at Eagle Farm, where he showed good toughness.
Irish Sequel is shooting for three consecutive wins, so we wouldn’t leave him out.
Race 10 6:23pm SQS HAULAGE C6 Tips
Contemptuous owns five wins from 10 starts, including his last two. He looks like a nice type for the future, and we’re not surprised by the short odds. He has yet to finish worse than third from four starts at Doomben, so he could be a bet of the day.
Sir Rocket is another tidy runner who is in winning form, so include.
Morphettville
Race 5 3:21pm THE JUNCTION HANDICAP Tips
Punters get value with Enchantingly, who has drifted in betting markets throughout the week. She scored back-to-back wins earlier this preparation before running fifth last start, which came at Caulfield behind Bella Nipotina.
That form is good enough for us to be backing the current favourite.
Race 7 4:37pm WHITE CLAW HANDICAP Tips
It’s an open field, but Slipintothis has the form on the board. The Ryan Balfour-trained runner owns five wins and six placings from 15 starts, which is excellent form. He handled this track well at his only attempt, so we’re happy with the $2.50 available.
Exalted Ambition is always a threat, so we wouldn’t leave him out at each-way odds.
Ascot
Race 1 3:36pm IRISH DAY PLATE Tips
Pot Shot scored impressively on debut at Ascot, and the two-year-old can remain unbeaten. She won by just under a length with William Pike in the saddle, and it’s good to see him stay in the saddle.
Kosta’s Crown and Snowdome are exciting types, but Pot Shot has the form on the board.
