The lucrative contest was first held at the Royal meeting in 1862 and a classy field will assemble for this year's renewal.

Los Angeles will bid to follow in the footsteps of stablemate Auguste Rodin when he travels to Ascot next week. Aidan O'Brien's star was campaigned mainly over a mile-and-a-half as a three-year-old, but has returned this year with two ten-furlong victories, including a Group One triumph in the Tattersalls Gold Cup.
Champion Stakes winner, Anmaat ran a blinder to finish half-a-length behind Los Angeles at the Curragh, and sits second in the betting behind the favourite. Third we find French raider Map Of Stars, who was denied a seasonal hat-trick by Sosie in the Prix Ganay at Longchamp.
Almaqam used race fitness to his advantage when beating Ombudsman in the Brigadier Gerard Stakes, but it's only the runner-up who lines up on day two of Royal Ascot. See The Fire was handed a supplementary entry following her emphatic victory in the Group Two Middleton Stakes at York.
Facteur Cheval joins Map Of Stars on the plane over from France to contest Wednesday's feature. Jack Channon's Certain Lad and Karl Burke's Royal Champion also feature in the field, along with Aidan O'Brien's second-string, Continuous.

2025 Prince Of Wales's Stakes Tips
Los Angeles is going to be a very tough nut to crack. Aidan O'Brien's colt was one of the top three-year-old middle distance prospects last term, and has shown great grit and determination to win his two ten-furlong races this term.
From an ideal draw in stall five, Ryan Moore should get a toe into the race from Continuous, before hitting the front and asking the question of his rivals. Are any of you strong enough to pass me?
Anmaat and Ombudsman have the class, but fast ground isn't ideal. I'm not certain that Map Of Stars is a top-notcher. Facteur Cheval has won one of his last 13 starts. Certain Lad is too old and Royal Champion isn't good enough.
I think it will take a perfectly timed late burst of speed to get the better of Los Angeles, and the only horse in the field capable of that on fast ground is SEE THE FIRE.
Andrew Balding supplemented his filly for this Group One following an outstanding 12-length victory in the Middleton Stakes, where See The Fire blitzed her rivals with a superb turn of foot. The time Oisin Murphy's mount set that day was over two seconds quicker than the following Dante Stakes, and she was only ridden out with hands and heels in the final furlong or so.
See The Fire almost caught Opera Singer with a late burst in the Nassau Stakes last term, before quickening up nicely late on to land the Strensall Stakes at York. All three of her best performances have come on fast ground and this Sea The Stars filly will be getting weight from the colts ahead of her in the market.
Verdict
Los Angeles will prove very hard to pass, but See The Fire is progressing in the right direction and a well-timed assault from Oisin Murphy could see her get the job done.
I'll also be backing the reverse forecast between See The Fire and Los Angeles, to cover both bases.
