- Blackbook picks out the four best bets
Magic Millions Day racing takes place on Saturday, January 13, with the Gold Coast program providing the feature meeting of the weekend
We have the best bets picked out from across day including for the feature races of Magic Millions Carnival on a bumper 11-race program.
Race 4: No. 4 Chinny Boom
Four-year-old mare who has managed seven wins from just 11 career race starts including a win first up this prep at Rockhampton by over five lengths.
The daughter of Spirit Of Boom heading south at her next start and was beaten under a length behind Lady Laguna at Doomben and she should be ready to peak now at her third start this campaign.
Is yet to miss the top two in four starts on a soft track and she represents good each-way value at her current price.
Race 6: No. 5 Derry Grove
Put together three impressive wins in a row during his last campaign before finishing well back in The Kosciuszko when settling too far back in the run.
He’s only a lightly raced five-year-old gelding who has won four of his 11 starts and he will appreciate the recent rain that has fallen on the Gold Coast.
Drawn well in barrier two with Nash Rawiller steering.
Race 8: No. 2 Spywire
Talented young colt from the Maher and Eustace stable who has won two of three during his short racing career.
He looked the winner in the Wyong Magic Millions Classic before being overrun late by Highness.
Love the fact he’s had another soft win in between runs and he should settle on the speed and be incredibly tough to run past over 1200m.
Race 10: No. 2 Far Too Easy
Winner of eight of his 19 career starts including a demolition job last start at Eagle Farm over 1400m as the rain poured down in mid-December.
Has been to the Gold Coast three times for two wins and also has four wins from five attempts on a soft track.
I’m convinced he’s the best horse in the race with my only concern where he will get to early from barrier 21.
