Flemington Racing Tips 4.11.2021 - Kennedy Oaks Day
Flemington hosts a nine-race card on Thursday, November 4, and we have our four best bets available. It's Oaks Day, so the racing is first class and value is available with the Sydney runners, who should have a big day.

- Race 4 2:35pm No. 13 Saltpeter
- Race 5 3:15pm No. 16 Espiona
- Race 6 3:50pm No. 8 Malkovich
Race 2 1:15pm No. 1 Sirileo Miss
Sirileo Miss is looking to win her fourth consecutive race after scoring at Sandown and Caulfield. The Symon Wilde-trained mare scored by a short margin at Caulfield last start, which holds her in good stead for this level of racing. She has come of age this season, and although she has yet to race at Flemington, she likes to sit on the pace and give a good kick.
Jockey Craig Williams has yet to win during the Melbourne Spring Carnival, so he’ll be keen to get one over the line early on Oaks Day. Punters should expect a top effort from the favourite.
Race 4 2:35pm No. 13 Saltpeter
Value is with Saltpeter, who has turned his form around nicely to win back-to-back races. The four-year-old son of Pierro kicked off his winning run with a win at Sale by a nose before doubling down and winning at Caulfield on a heavy surface. He held off the talented Mimi’s Award, so the form out of that race should hold up well.
Carrying only 54kg brings him right into contention and he also owns a placing at Flemington, which could be crucial. It’s a track some runners don’t handle well, so we expect him to be presented at the top of the straight and he could finish off best.
Race 5 3:15pm No. 16 Espiona
Espiona is our best of the day after scoring a terrific debut win. The Chris Waller-trained filly won by 3.3 lengths at Warwick Farm over Arranmore, who has since won on Melbourne Cup Day at Randwick. It’s stellar form to bring to Melbourne, where it’s typically easier to win. The filly by Extreme Choice has been well-backed to win since markets opened, and connections turned down an easier race for this contest.
Melbourne Cup-winning jockey James McDonald takes the ride and that should give punters confidence. He’s riding in sublime form this carnival, and he’s the man you want in the saddle. $2.05 is a fair price for a filly with loads up upside. Take the odds before they drop, because money should come for her.
Race 6 3:50pm No. 8 Malkovich
The Bjorn Baker-trained sprinter finished second behind Oxley Road last start, and we think that will be a good form guide. Oxley Road didn’t fire on Saturday, but it’s the best form for this race. The four-year-old owns six wins and five placings from 14 starts, so he doesn’t know how to run a bad race. He is a three-time winner over the distance, and barrier three down the straight isn’t the worst place to be.
After opening at $3, most of the money has come for Malkovich. He is a smart Sydney-based runner, and he goes clearly on top.
