Benalla Race 3 No. 11- Keeneland


Keen on Keeneland in Race 3. The Trent Busuttin & Natalie Young-trained galloper has had the two career starts and was just fair over the 1300m on debut before showing marked improvement at his second start when rattling home for a narrow runner-up behind Thunder Force at Benalla over the 1612m on September 3. He was held up at the top of the straight and just missed in a head-bobber, while there was more than four lenghts to the rest of them. He should be at his peak at his third run and might have the class over this lot to overcome the wide barrier. 

Benalla Race 7 No. 5- Vitruvius


Vitruvius can be an improver at his third run back from a spell. The recent addition to the Quinton Scott stable has had the two runs since crossing from the Nick Ryan stables and needed the hitout at Moonee Valley before finishing 8th at Caulfield behind Craig over the 1400m. He was taked back from the wide barrier before making some ground over the last 400m in a run that was better than it looked, going a healthy 7.4 lenghts faster than standard. This should be more to his ability and he will strip fitter, while the son of Star Witness draws well in barrier 3 with the 3kg claimer, Brittany Button to ride. 

Benalla Race 8 No. 6- Aramco


Aramco can go close in the Benalla Cup. The Chris Waller-trained galloper was a Randwick 1800m three starts ago then was ok when 4th at that venue before dropping back in trip to the 1600m at Moonee Valley, placing 8th behind Nails Murphy. He was posted wide without cover that day and the tough run told in the end. The six-year-old gets out to the 2000m and beyond for the first time this preparation and was excellent at this stage last time when winning two of three. He should enjoy a better time of it in transit from the inside barrier and will look to either lead or sit leaders back.
