- Blackbook picks out the four best bets
Railway Stakes Day racing takes place on Saturday, November 25, with the Ascot program headlined by the first Group 1 of the Perth Summer Carnival.
We have the best bets picked out from across the Summer Carnival action including the feature race the Railway Stakes.
Race 1: No. 3 Diamond Scene
Has won all three starts so far this prep making it four from six overall.
The son of So You Think is only a lightly raced and progressive type but he keeps stepping up to each challenge that is given to him.
He’s plenty fit and the distance is no concern.
The king of the west, Willy Pike, is on top which is never a bad thing.
Race 3: No. 5 Brooklyn Pier
Was excellent when winning first up here at Ascot over 1200m in a similar grade of race and was then denied by the barest of margins two weeks later.
Steven Parnham can give him a nice run in transit from barrier five, settling him on the speed and he’ll prove tough to run down.
Nice each-way odds.
Race 5: No. 1 Casino Seventeen
Has been ticking away well so far this prep and has not been beaten in both starts, the latest of which was at Listed level.
Gets out to a more suitable distance now and Willy Pike retains the ride, steering from barrier three.
Race 6: No. 2 Magnificent Andy
Won a Listed race at Kalgoorlie three back by a small margin but they beat home the third horse by almost four lengths.
Was beaten less than a length at Group 3 level last start behind Mojo Rhythm and Alsephina, the latter is single-figure odds in the Group 1 Railway Stakes later in this card.
