Concorde Stakes scheduled for Everest hope

The Concorde Stakes is scheduled for The Everest hope Pierata, which returned from a spell this week.

One of five confirmed runners for October's $14 million feature at Randwick, Pierata will target the Group 3 Concorde Stakes before targeting the Group 2 The Shorts following that.

That's going to give him a good preparation into The Everest, where he's currently an 8.00 chance at BetEasy to cross the line first.

“He looks enormous, I couldn’t be any happier,” trainer Gregory Hickman said.

“He went out at just over 500 and has come back at around 533.

"He’s just filled out. He looks great.”

The All Aged Stakes winner is on the third line of betting behind Santa Ana Lane, who was confirmed as the TAB representative earlier this year.

Another runner which secured a spot is classy three-year-old Sunlight. Trained by Tony McEvoy, the Group 1-winning filly was secured by Max Whitby and Neil Werrett.

That saw her odds firm from 11.00 to 9.00 with horse racing bookmakers.

Confirmed 2019 Everest runners:

  • Pierata
  • Classique Legend
  • Santa Ana Lane
  • In Her Time
  • Sunlight
