Race 3: No.5 Rip Off
The James Cummings-trained Rip Off is in top-shelf form this time in and will take beating in this event.
Last start, the Ribchester mare came off her maiden win (on this track) when she beat all but one home in a BM64 over 1300m at Hawkesbury.
With Zac Lloyd on board, she came from back in the field to finish a length behind the winner.
Kerrin McEvoy takes over as the pilot for this assignment where the Godolphin mare draws well in gate four and maps to settle mid-field with cover.
Fitter for two runs this preparation and meeting similar company, she looks just the ticket in this contest.
Race 4: No.6 I’m A Steel
The Barbara Joseph Team saddle-up I’m A Steel here who sports a major gear change and after three runs back, looks a genuine winning chance at odds in this event.
Last start, the Real Steel mare was third-up and returning to country competition when she beat home a Class 3 field over 1020m at Moruya.
Trapped wide (with cover) and back in the field, Quayde Krogh did well to find the gaps out wide and steer the mare to a solid come-from-behind win that day.
She gets all the favours here from gate one as Reece Jones returns to steer the ship.
The stable slip the tongue tie on for the first time and at her peak after those three runs back, she looks well worth an each-way ticket in this contest.
Race 6: No.10 Kervette
Kristen Buchanan saddles-up three runners here as we run with Kervette who looks the most likely to salute in this event.
Last start, the Kermadec mare continued with her good form when she beat all but one home in a BM64 over 1400m at Newcastle.
Coming from back in the field, she finished within half a length of the winner carrying 58kgs on the day.
She meets similar company here as she steps-up to the mile trip and has Jason Collett as the new pilot.
Drawn nicely in gate six, she maps to settle mid-field with cover and will be running on in the run home.
Yet to miss a podium finish in five starts on the Wyong track, she looks a sound investment in this contest.
Race 7: No.1 Lion’s Roar
Set for this race, the John O’Shea Team saddle-up Lion’s Roar here who looks well placed to bring-up his sixth career win in this event.
Last start, the Contributer gelding was second-up and showed plenty of improvement when he beat all but one to the line in the Listed Rowley Mile at Hawkesbury.
Settling mid-field, Jason Collett steered him through traffic and crossing off heels, he ran home strongly to finish less than a length from victory.
Ideally drawn here in gate three, he maps to settle mid-field with cover again as Collett sticks with him for this assignment.
Already a winner when third-up, his first two starts this time in have him in pristine condition and at his peak, he looks the goods to take home the Cup.
