Race 4: No.3 La Signora Dane
The Richard Litt-trained galloper is high flying this time in and unbeaten in two starts back, looks set to bring up the hat-trick in this event.
Last start, the Star Witness mare went back-to-back when she took out a BM60 over 1000m at Canberra.
Carrying 59kgs, she held the inside running and in the run home proved too strong in the end, winning by a length on the line.
She draws gate five (of nine) today and has Chad Scofield on board for his first ride on the mare.
The five-year-old is lightly-raced with just seven starts to her name but has won four of those and three of them came on rain affected tracks so conditions today will be ideal for the mare.
Winning form is good form and with a trouble-free run here, she looks the one to beat in this contest.
Race 5: No.6 O Cara Mia
The Edward Cummings-trained galloper has struck good form since arriving at the stable and looks set to make her mark third-up in this event.
Last start, the well-bred Pierro filly finished runner again when second-up she beat all but one home in a Maiden Plate over 1850m at Newcastle.
On a Heavy 8 that day, she settled back in the field and while no match for the winner, put more than five lengths on the rest of the field on her way to claim second prize in the event.
Heavelon Van Der Hoven returns for this assignment after finishing second with her two starts back and today she gets the gun-run from gate one where she maps to be box-seating on settling.
The three-year-old is proven in wet conditions and fitter for two runs back, the filly should prove hard to hold out in this contest.
Race 7: No. 5 Super Nui
Ron Quinton saddles-up Super Nui here who is in good touch this time in and looks well placed here to challenge for the big prize in this contest.
Last start, the Super One filly dropped back in grade and on a Heavy 8 at Newcastle, finished second in a Class 1 Hcp over 1250m with Lousie Day on board.
After settling back early, she made a sustained run along the fence and took control inside the final 200m but was run down near the line by one better on the day.
She draws gate six today and maps to settle in the back half of the field with Day at the helm again for this assignment.
The three-year-old is now four starts into this preparation and should be fighting fit to tackle this challenge and if she can secure a clear run home, she looks a serious chance of winning this contest today.
