Wyong racing takes place on Tuesday, June 24 with a 7-race program set down for Wyong racetrack.
We have the best bets picked from across the meeting with a Best Bet and other value selections for Wyong racetrack.
Race 1: No.7 Divo
The Nathan Doyle-trained juvenile has his second race start today and with a drier track, looks well placed to go one better in this event.
Last start, the Capitalist gelding made his racing debut and did well to beat all but one to the line in a 1200m Maiden Hcp at Newcastle.
On a Heavy 8 that day, Andrew Gibbons had him sharing the lead to the turn before shaking off his shadow but was collared by another who was simply better on the day.
Fitter for that run, the two-year-old draws ideally in gate two today and with Ben Osmond as the new pilot, maps to settle on the speed again.
The forecast Soft 5 today may prove an asset to him along with the 3kg drop in weight.
Well drawn and weighted here, he looks a major player in this contest.
Race 4: No.5 November Air
The Team Archibald-trained galloper is in top-shelf form this preparation and is ideally placed here to go on with it in this event.
Last start, the Pierata filly racked-up her fourth-straight podium finish when she beat all but one home in a Class 1 Hcp, here over 1600m.
With Braith Nock aboard for the first time, she was mid-field on settling before tracking wide on the turn where she finished strongly but couldn’t reel in the winner, having to settle for second prize on the day.
She gets the gun-run from gate one today and maps to be box-seating on settling with Nock steering the ship again.
A trouble-free run here should see her continue with the consistent form and looks well worth an each-way ticket in this contest.
Race 5: No.2 Sum Invictus
Chris Waller saddles-up Sum Invictus here who is second-up and down in grade today, looks well placed to record his second career win in this event.
Last start, the well-bred I Am Invincible gelding resumed off a 12-week spell and clearly in need of the run, finished last of the six runners in a BM64 over 1250m on a Heavy 8 at Canterbury.
Settling near last in the field, he failed to finish off in the run home, showing a dislike to the conditions on the day.
He maps to settle mid-field from barrier eight with Kerrin McEvoy back for his second ride on the three-year-old.
Coming off a city class event, he returns to the country scene today and drops down to Class 1 competition.
Already a winner at the track and trip, he can bounce back here today.
Race 6: No.6 Zip On By
The Gosford-based galloper is second-up today and looks well placed to go one better in this event.
Last start, the Sebring mare resumed after seven months off the scene and impressed when she beat all but one home in a BM64 over 1000m on her home track.
Mollie Fitzgerald was legged aboard for the first time where she had the mare box-seating on settling before crossing heels and chasing the leader all the way home but was unable to bridge the gap, taking home second prize on the day, with the two of them putting more than six lengths on the rest of the field in the Heavy 9 conditions.
Fitzgerald retains the ride today where the mare gets the gun-run from gate one and maps to be box-seating again.
Stepping-up to a more suitable 1300m today, the drier track will also benefit her and already a winner when second-up, she looks the testing material in this contest.
