Warwick Farm racing takes place on Wednesday, April 16 with an 8-race program set down for Warwick Farm racetrack.

Race 4: No.4 Soul Of Spain
Race 6: No.6 Candlewick

Race 4: No.4 Soul Of Spain

The Chris Waller-trained galloper makes his track debut today and with two starts already behind him, he looks well placed to make an impact on this event.

Last start, the Irish-sired import had just his second start on Australian soil when he finished third in a BM78 over 2000m at Ballarat.

Coming from back in the field, he took the turn via the cape but still ran home strongly to grab the minor prize, finishing a long neck from victory.

Waller now brings him to Sydney and legs aboard James McDonald (J.Mac) to steer him around ‘the Farm’ today where he maps to settle back in the small field.

His two career wins have come over 3300m so the step up to the 2200m trip today looks ideal.

Taken on trust, he has race fitness back in his legs after those two Victorian runs and should now be ready to produce his best.

Race 6: No.6 Candlewick

The Randwick-based Candlewick has shown plenty of potential in her three race starts to date and first-up today, looks well placed to pick up where she left off last preparation.

Last start, the Pierro filly ended her three-start preparation by clobbering her rivals in a BM64 over 1400m on the Kensington track at Randwick.

With Zac Lloyd aboard, she jumped from gate three and led from barrier to box, crossing the line 2.5 lengths clear of the field.

The three-year-old has trialled twice since then and her return to the track has been boosted by drawing gate one where she maps to be showing them the way again, with Lloyd steering the ship.

Two wins and an unlucky second-place finish speaks for itself and on fresh legs today, she should take a lot of beating here.

Race 8: No.14 Mountain Top

Chris Waller saddles-up Mountain Top here who is three starts back and now looks ready to hit top gear in this event.

Last start, the well-bred So You Think mare was third-up when she showed enough improvement to beat all but one home in a BM72, here over 1600m with Ben Osmond aboard.

Ridden further forward, Osmond went for home on the turn and looked to have it won but she was run down near the line by one better on the day. Leaving her with second prize in the race.

She draws wide today in gate 11 (of 14) which may be a blessing by keeping her off the speed and under cover.

J.Mac is booked for the ride (having already ridden the mare to victory twice previously) and if he can have the four-year-old close enough to the action on straightening, she is every chance of finishing over the top and taking the major prize home today.
