Wagga racing takes place on Sunday, April 13 with an 8-race program set down for Wagga racetrack.
  • Race 4: No.4  Rose Aye
  • Race 6: No.7  Helluva Soiree
  • Race 7: No.3  Love Shuck
  • Race 8: No.7  Sacred Mistress

We have the best bets picked from across the meeting with a Best Bet and other value selections for  Wagga racetrack.

Race 4: No.4  Rose Aye

The Matt Dale-trained Rose Aye is in top-shelf form this preparation and looks set to go on with it in this event.

Last start, the Supido filly was third-up when she beat all but one home in a Class 1 Hcp over 1400m at Albury.

With Nick Heywood aboard, the filly exploded to the lead on straightening and looked home but was run down in the closing stages by two-year-old Spicy Lu who enjoyed a 5kg weight advantage that day.

Drawn the fence today, the three-year-old maps to be box-seating on settling with Heywood at the helm again.

She looks a promising type, boasting five podium finishes from her six starts to date and with a trouble-free run here, she can certainly take the glory from this contest.

Race 6: No.7  Helluva Soiree

The Luke Pepper-trained galloper is in career-best form of late and looks well placed here to strike again in this event.

Last start, the Hellbent mare destroyed her rivals in a BM74, here over 2000m with Claire Ramsbotham in the saddle.

Coming from back in the field, she quickly grabbed the two leaders and then raced away for an easy win, putting more than two lengths on them with plenty to spare.

She steps up to Open company here and from gate six, she maps to settle mid-field with cover.

Ramsbotham sticks with her for this assignment and after her claim, the mare carries 2kgs under the limit with 53kgs on her back today.

Dropping back to the 1800m trip here, if the tempo is true and she finds clear passage to the line, she can give this a real shake and looks well worth an each-way ticket in this contest.

Race 7: No.3  Love Shuck

Todd Smart saddles-up Love Shuck here who is second-up and ticks all the boxes that suggest he will take beating in this event.

Last start, the Mikki Isle gelding resumed after six months off the scene and impressed when he beat all but one home in Open company over 1000m at Canberra.

He travelled three-wide to the turn and in the run home, never stopped chasing the leader but his condition gave out, leaving him with second prize for the race.

He draws well in gate six here and maps to settle better than mid-field with Brodie Loy remaining aboard for this challenge.

The four-year-old is unbeaten in three starts at the track and distance and is a winner when second-up as well.

Fitter for that first-up effort, he looks the testing material in this contest.

Race 8: No.7  Sacred Mistress

The Luke Pepper-trained Sacred Mistress has hit a purple patch of form this time in and looks well placed here to keep the picket fence next to her name growing in this event.

Last start, the Sacred Falls mare did what all good even-money favourites should when she completely demolished her competition in a Class 1 over 1610m at the Sapphire Coast.

With Brodie Loy aboard for the first time, she enjoyed the run of the race (one out, one back) before peeling three wide on the turn and then leaving the rest to fight out the minor prizes as she crossed the line eight lengths clear, with plenty to spare.

That made it four-straight wins for the five-year-old who has come a long way since her Maiden win at Braidwood four starts back.

Loy sticks with her today and from gate five, she maps to settle in the first half-dozen.

This BM58 looks no harder than her last start demolition and given a true tempo up front and a trouble-free run, she looks in the mix here and well worth a ticket on both totes in this contest.
