Taree Racing Tips for 27.7.2021 - 4 Best Value Tips

We have four of the best bets Taree on Tuesday, including runners from the Kim Waugh and Allan Denham stables. The fields are packed with quality winter types, so get a look at the thoroughbreds who could be running in the Highway Handicaps in Sydney over the coming months.

Race 1 12:25pm AEST – No. 7 Oblivion

The two-year-old gelding has been one of the best-backed runners on the card at Taree and it looks well placed. He is a son of Winning Rupert that comes off a much-improved second placing and it came in similar conditions. It came on a heavy surface at Taree, so conditions are almost identical and we like his chances of going one better.

Having Ashley Morgan in the saddle from barrier three helps and he was only a length behind The Jaguar last start, which bodes well for maiden racing. His opening odds of $4.60 didn’t last long and he has firmed in a full two points since.

Race 4 2:10pm AEST – No. 1 Dollson

Dollson is a five-year-old gelding that is getting close to adding another win to his record. The son of Zariz didn’t fire at Port Macquarie fresh up, but he has since produced consecutive second placings and he’s knocking on the door. The three-time winner also owns seven placings from 17 starts, so he’s consistent and punters often get each-way value odds. He has been well-backed to win on Tuesday, which isn’t surprising.

He is the form runner of the field, and although yet to win on rain-affected tracks, he owns six placings from 13 attempts. There is nothing wrong with that form and despite carrying a big weight, he has the class edge over this field.

Race 5 2:45pm AEST – No. 2 Linguee

The Kim Waugh stable often has excellent success at the midweek meetings and it lines up race favourite Linguee. The three-year-old filly by Panzer Division owns two wins from five starts and she should appreciate the easier race. Her most recent effort was a fourth at Gosford in heavy conditions, which followed a seventh at Warwick Farm. However, she won her only attempt at Taree, so that bodes well.

She is unbeaten in two starts on soft tracks and with conditions expected to be in the slow 7 range, she will get every chance to win. Aaron Bullock takes the ride, and although her odds have drifted slightly from an opening quote of $2.90, we expect her odds to remain around $3.10 on race day. She is due a win and she meets an even field, so expect a big effort.

Race 7 4:00pm AEST – No. 7 McNair

Value is with McNair, who scored an impressive win at Coffs Harbour two starts ago. The three-year-old gelding hasn’t made the most consistent start to his career, but his maiden win came by 1.8 lengths and it demonstrated his ability. He followed it with a sixth at Taree in heavy conditions and he was only 1.8 lengths behind the winner, so it’s better than it looks.

It’s another good ride for Ashley Morgan and drawing barrier six should see him find a good spot in running. Rising in distance is another positive and he has always looked like a 1600m type, so expect McNair to be hitting the line with power on Tuesday.
