Tamworth racing takes place on Sunday, March 9 with an 8-race program set down for Tamworth racetrack.

The Colt Prosser-trained galloper is high-flying this time in and third-up today looks a serious contender for the major prize in this event.

Last start, the Real Impact gelding came off a big first-up win when he finished an unlucky third in the Port Macquarie Country Championships Qualifier over 1200m.

After taking the lead inside the final 200m he looked certain to take out the race, but was grabbed by two swoopers near the line, costing him a finals berth on 5 April.

The boxes are ticked here for redemption today with Luke Rolls remaining aboard in search of his third win on the five-year-old.

From gate nine, he maps to cross and settle near mid-field and facing BM66 company here, he should find this task a little easier.

Already a track and distance winner, a clear run to the line should see him hard to hold out in this contest.

Race 5: No.3 Oenology

The locally-trained Oenology is third-up today and has done enough to suggest he can take home the chocolates in this event.

Last start, the Hinchinbrook gelding came off a first-up win and wasn’t disgraced when finishing mid-field in a Class 3 Highway Hcp over 1300m at Rosehill.

Held up in the run home, once he saw daylight, the six-year-old hit the line well and was beaten just two lengths in the end.

Donovan Dillon returns for this assignment, having ridden the lightly-raced galloper to victory two start back, and from gate three today, maps to settle in the first half-dozen.

Down in grade today, he looks the one to beat in this Class 2 contest.

Race 8: No.12 Not In Doubt

The Cody Morgan-trained galloper is second-up today and is ideally placed to get the job done in this event.

Last start, the Sizzling mare resumed after nine months off the scene, finishing mid-field in a strong BM82, here over 1200m.

Clearly in need of the run, she sat outside the leader most of the way before slowly running out of steam in the run home, beaten four lengths over the line.

Dropping sharply in grade today, she faces BM58 company which will be a lot easier to contest with and after the 4kg claim, looks well weighted with just 56kgs to carry.

Ideally drawn in gate three, she maps to settle near the speed and drops back to the 1000m sprint today.

Already a two-time winner at the track and unbeaten in two previous second-up appearances, there are enough boxes ticked here that put her in the mix for victory in this contest.
