Race 6: No.6 Rembroy
Local trainer Craig Clegg saddles-up Rembroy here who is second-up and looks set for back-to-back success on his home track today.
Last start, the Husson gelding resumed after nine months off the scene and showing no signs of fatigue, broke through for his first career win, here in a Maiden Plate over 1000m.
Aaron Bulloock settled him second early, before taking over soon after straightening and going on to score by more than a length on the line.
Moving up to Class 1 opposition today, he runs over the 1200m trip carrying 2kgs less than that last start win with Bullock steering the ship again.
Ideally drawn in gate three, he maps to settle in the first half-dozen and with a trouble-free run, should prove hard to hold out in this contest.
Race 7: No.3 Move She Can
The Rod Northam-trained galloper has been thereabouts in all starts this time in and looks in the mix here to take home the winner’s cheque in this event.
Last start, the Exosphere mare wasn’t far away when finishing third in a Class 3 Hcp, here over 1200m with Leeshelle Small in the saddle.
The four-year-old settled second early before running home well and hanging on the claim the minor prize against strong opposition that day.
Dropping sharply in grade here, she drops back to BM58 company and has Small sticking with her.
From barrier eight, she maps to cross and settle mid-field with cover and against easier opposition, she can bounce back to the winner’s circle in this contest.
Race 8: No.5 Jet Empress
The Dubbo-based galloper is second-up today and ticks all boxes that suggest she will be hard to beat in this event.
Last start, the Holy Roman Emperor mare resumed after eight months in the paddock and on fresh legs, impressed when beating all but one home in a BM66 over 1000m on her home track.
Drawing the outside gate (10), Izzy Neale settled her mid-field but wide to the turn, before finishing strongly and after taking the lead, was grabbed late, beaten a head on the line.
The five-year-old draws the outside gate again where she maps to settle near mid-field after crossing and has Neale retaining the ride for this assignment.
Already a winner when second-up and has previous success at the track and distance, she looks a genuine threat to victory in this contest.
