Race 5: No.2 Crackenthorpe

The Leanne Hartley-trained Crakenthorpe is high flying this time in and looks set to challenge here for a win in this event.

Last start, the well-bred Zoustar gelding came off his maiden win and came close to repeating the dose when finishing a close-up second, here in a Class 1 Hcp over 1200m.

Dan Mc Gillivray rode him a treat, settling him one off the fence just behind the speed.

In the run home, he was severely hampered going for a split, leaving McGillivray to check off heels and come wide, which eventually cost him the race, beaten a head on the line, should have won.

He draws gate 18 here but with almost half the field scratched from the event, he will have the opportunity to cross and settle near mid-field with McGillivray steering the ship again.

If he can avoid any drama and finds clean air on straightening, he can give this contest a real shake tonight.

Race 6: No.7 Battle Of Vienna

The Edmonds & McLean-trained galloper resumes tonight but has strong claims to suggest he can win on fresh legs in this event.

The well-bred Capitalist gelding ended his last campaign with a disappointing fifth in a BM65 over 1000m at the Gold Coast.

The stable spelled the gelding straight away and returned him to work last month where he won a barrier trial over 900m on the Gold Coast track.

He maps to settle mid-field from barrier eight tonight with Ryan Maloney sporting the silks for the first time on the four-year-old.

He boasts a strong fresh record and has won first-up previously.

A clear run to the line tonight should see him fighting out the finish in this contest.

Race 7: No.6 Divakara

Stuart Kendrick saddles-up Divakara here who is on fire this preparation and ticks all the boxes here that suggest he is the best investment for the night.

Last start, the Dundeel gelding made it five-straight top-two finishes when he dropped back from 1800m to 1400m and still managed to beat all but one home in a BM70 on this track.

Regular rider Kyle Wilson-Taylor was aboard and after settling near the tail (after a bad draw), ran home strongly to just miss out on the big prize, beaten a head on the line.

He lines-up here back in his comfort zone at the 1800m trip and gets all the favours from gate where he maps to settle mid-field on the fence.

With Kyle Wilson-Taylor in pride of place tonight, all needs is clean air in the run home and if he achieves that, he should prove very hard to hold out in this contest.
