Sha Tin racing takes place on Sunday, May 4 with an 11-race program set down for Sha Tin racetrack.

The John Size-trained galloper has been in good touch this time in and stepping up in distance today looks well placed to figure in this event.

Last start, the Shamus Award gelding bounced back from a disappointing effort in the Hong Kong Derby when he finished a close-up fourth in Class 2 company, here over 1800m with Zac Purton aboard for the first time.

Having no luck from the outset, he missed the jump by two lengths and although making up that ground, still settled a dozen lengths off the speed.

Turning for home, he was awkwardly placed, third last on the fence, and in the run home, couldn’t get clear and did well to finish in fourth place over the line.

Ideally drawn in gate two today, he maps to settle mid-field on the fence and in a small field today, should manage to avoid any trouble with Purton steering the ship again.

Already a two-time winner at Sha Tin, he looks in the mix here for a third win at the track.

Race 10: No.7 Winning Wing

Francis Lui saddles-up Winning Wing here who has found his mojo and looks ideally placed for back-to-back success in this event.

Last start, the Preferment gelding brought-up his second career win when he took out a Class 3 Hcp, here over 1800m.

Ridden a treat by Dylan Mo, he settled fourth, one off the fence and soon after straightening, took control and fought off the late challenges to score a dogged victory on the line.

Mo sticks with him here where he gets all the favours from gate one and maps to be box-seating on settling.

Avoiding any dramas in the run, he looks set to peel off the leader’s heels and set them a task to try and run him down again.

Race 11: No.2 The Boom Box

The Chris So-trained galloper is yet to miss a podium finish in five career starts to date and ticks enough boxes here to suggest that trend is every chance of continuing in this event.

Last start, the Spirit Of Boom gelding ran his usual honest race where he took home third prize in a Class 3 Hcp, here over 1400m.

Carrying top weight in the race with 61kgs, he settled mid-field on the fence with Zac Purton in the saddle.

On straightening, he had six lengths to make up and ran into dead ends before finally seeing daylight over the last 200m but with too much ground to make up, he had to settle for the minor prize that day.

Drawn out in barrier eight today, Purton sticks with him and maps to settle the four-year-old better than mid-field with cover.

He is already labelled a track specialist with all three career-wins coming at the Sha Tin circuit and avoiding any trouble in the run home today, he looks well placed to claim the winner’s cheque in this contest.
