Sha Tin racing takes place on Saturday, March 15 with a 10-race program set down for Sha Tin racetrack.

Race 5: No.4 Gold Master

Race 5: No.4 Gold Master

The Manfred Man-trained Gold Master has found his mojo recently and looks ideally placed here to continue the good work.

Last start, the four-year-old came off his maiden win and wasn’t far away when finishing third in a Class 4 Hcp, here over the 1600m trip.

Regular rider Andrea Atzeni was aboard that day and settled back in the field, caught three-wide to the turn before he was carted even wider and on straightening, he never stopped chasing and arrived in time to claim the minor prize.

Atzeni steers the ship again today and gets the gun-run from gate one and maps to settle mid-field on the fence.

Well bred, by The Autumn Sun out of a High Chaparral mare, he has good bloodlines and now appears to be at his best and with a clear run to the line, he looks hard to hold out in this contest.

Race 9: No.5 Juneau Pride

John Size saddles-up Juneau Pride here who has dazzled in his six career starts to date and is ideally placed in this event to go on with it today.

Last start, the Pride Of Dubai gelding made it six-straight podium finishes when he took out a Class 3 Hcp, here over 1400m.

Regular rider Brenton Avdulla was back aboard and had him settled one off the fence just behind the speed.

He grabbed the two leaders inside the final 200m and showed plenty of strength as he held off all challenges to claim victory.

He meets similar company over the same trip today but does have 3kgs extra to carry.

Avdulla is at the helm again and ideally drawn in gate two, he maps to settle just behind the early speed, possibly box-seating.

Yet to miss a top-three finish, the scene looks set here for another strong performance today.

Race 10: No.7 Sky Jewellery

Size and Avdulla team-up again in the last with Sky Jewellery who has made a flying start to his career winning two of his three starts to date and while up in class here, still looks the one to beat in this event.

Last start, the three-year-old bounced back from an unplaced effort at Happy Valley and returning to the Sha Tin track, beat home a Class 4 field over 1400m.

With everything going against him that day, he lumped 61kgs (along with Hugh Bowman) and jumping from the carpark in gate 13 (of 14), still finished over the top of them, arriving in time to claim the gold medal.

Up to Class 3 level today, he drops 5kgs from that last-start win and draws much better in gate seven where he maps to settle back in the field with cover.

Brenton Avdulla is legged aboard for the first time (with Bowman on board the Caspar Fownes galloper, Sky Trust).

Now a track and distance winner, if he can handle the class rise today, he should be there at the finish again.
