Moonee Valley

Race 2 1:05pm AEST – DRUMMOND GOLF BM78 Tips

Mr Brightside faces his toughest test to date, but he hasn’t done much wrong winning his last three races. The four-year-old scored two of those wins at Sandown, with the latest coming by 1.5 lengths. Craig Williams retains the ride and punters deserve to be confident.

There are many midweek runners in this race, so he’s capable of handling the class, and his odds should only firm throughout the week.

It’s a competitive field where Portland Sky is the favourite, but we’re in the camp of September Run. The Chris Waller-trained mare owns a win fresh up and she finished second in the Group 1 Lightning Stakes fresh up last preparation.

Portland Sky is likely to provide a test. He won his only fresh up start on debut and he has experience winning and placing at Moonee Valley, so keep them both safe.

Race 9 5:25pm AEST – LADBROKE IT Tips

Punters get value with Skyman, who didn’t have all favours in the run when finishing second behind Viral by a nose. He is a five-time winner and three-time winner at the distance, so the statistics read well, and he typically improves with a run under his belt.

In-form rider Brett Prebble is in the saddle, so take the value odds before they shorten.

Race 3 12:50pm AEST – MIDWAY BM72 Tips

There has been sizable betting moves for many runners in this field, including Casino Mondial. The son of Casino Prince scored a win three back at Rosehill and followed it up with two solid performances at Randwick. There is nothing wrong with his form leading into this race, and the opening odds of $10 were never going to last.

Always Sure is gripping onto favouritism after winning at Randwick last start. He has plenty of upside and could run the quinella with Casino Mondial.

Four Moves Ahead had most of the early betting support, but it was only a matter of time before She’s All Class firmed. The Waller-trained filly has had four starts for a win and three placings, including a win in the 2YO Magic Millions. She lives up to her name and having James McDonald riding helps.

Four Moves Ahead can’t be overlooked, but we expect most of the money to come for She’s All Class.

Eagle Farm

Race 5 2:08pm AEST – SKY RACING C6 HANDICAP Tips

Le Palmier did well to run second fresh up at Eagle Farm and he can go one better. The five-year-old owns two wins second-up and two wins on the track. Getting a 3kg claimer in the saddle is ideal and we’re not surprised by the market movement. He is likely to start as an odds-on favourite, so take what’s available now.

Race 7 3:22pm AEST – EUREKA STUD BM72 Tips

Ingear didn’t end her last campaign overly well, but she is a proven winner fresh up. The daughter of Dissident is a two-time fresh up winner, and she also goes well at the track and distance. She was primed with a trial placing at Doomben, so she looks ready to fire.

Undeniable and The Big Goodbye have been backed at each-way odds. They don’t have the same ceiling as Ingear, so back the favourite.

Race 1 12:42pm AEST – LEGACY WEEK APPEAL BM72 Tips

Smokin’ Val should be able to handle the small field at Morphettville on Saturday. The Jon O’Connor-trained four-year-old owns a win and five placings from nine starts, including a terrific record in three attempts at this distance. Carrying 56kg is ideal, and although yet to race on the track, she is well worth following.

Larkham is another talented runner that has drawn well in barrier four. He should be right in the mix and push Smokin’ Val close.

Looking to go back-to-back is Fighting McLaren, who scored by 1.3 lengths at Murray Bridge last time out. The four-year-old gelding went one better than his second placing on debut and we think he can continue to win. He meets an even field on Saturday, and with the bonus of a 3kg claimer, he should be tough to hold out.

Race 4 3:57pm AEST – CROWN PERTH BM63 Tips

Most of the money has come for Roman Flirt and the six-year-old mare looks a good chance to win her sixth start. The daughter of Roman Emperor got up right on the line at Northam last start, and she has excellent form at Belmont.

Special View and Seminole Brave are likely to test the favourite. Special View won well fresh up and a repeat of that performance should see him go well.
