Saturday Racing Tips – Caulfield, Randwick, Doomben, Gawler & Belmont on July 10

Blackbook experts preview all five metro meetings with Saturday racing tips for Caulfield, Randwick, Doomben, Gawler, and Belmont on July 10.

Current favourite Deep Speed has attracted plenty of attention with bookmakers. The McEvoy-trained gelding won his first two starts before not winning at his past three. He gets in with a light weight of 54.5kg, which brings him into contention.

However, our top pick runs at better value odds. All of Brighton was an explosive winner at Flemington three back and that turn-of-foot holds him in good stead for this contest. He followed it up with a placing and although yet to win at Caulfield, we like his chances against this level of opposition.

Race 3 1:00pm – PREMIER SIGNS BM78 Tips

Zorro’s Dream is knocking on the door of a big victory after three consecutive second placings. The four-year-old is a three-time winner from 15 starts and he also has 10 placings on his record. He has yet to race at Caulfield, but it’s a track that should suit and getting a 1.5kg claimer in the saddle helps his cause.

There has been support for last-start winner Meteorite. He comes off a heavy track win at Mornington but he has yet to win at Caulfield or over this distance, so we’re confident of Zorro’s Dream getting the better run and scoring an overdue win.

Race 4 1:35pm – MICHAEL FOX HANDICAP Tips

Sugartown and Zesty Belle have been well-backed to score in the open field, but value is with Forever Free. The speedy three-year-old hasn’t won of late, but she comes off a tidy third placing at Caulfield and she has the barrier speed to put this field to bed. She likes to ping the gates and sit on the pace, which is always a positive at Caulfield.

3kg comes off her back via the apprentice claim and punters get double-figure odds, so they’re worth taking.

Race 2 11:35pm RANVET BM72 Tips

Allinthistogether comes off a heavy track win at Gosford, and although rising steeply in class, she has a fair amount of upside. The three-year-old daughter of Shocking won by 2.3 lengths and she carried 57kg to victory, so carrying 52kg against this level of opposition bodes well. The slight drop in distance is a concern as she’s bred to handle longer distances, but punters should be confident.

Kobe Rocks scored a quality win at Warwick Farm two back before running fourth at Rosehill. He can be one-paced at times, but with Josh Parr in the saddle, we wouldn’t overlook his chances of beating the lightweight favourite.

Race 5 1:20pm SCHWEPPES BM78 Tips

Harpo Marx is a noted fresh up winner of two from three starts, so he is expected to fire up after two solid efforts this preparation. He is a four-time winner overall and he finished second at his only start at Randwick, so he’s capable of going one better. Barrier 12 shouldn’t be an issue over this distance and we’re not surprised at the odds.

Our Intrigue is a Kiwi runner that has been threatening to win. She comes off three consecutive fourths, but the wet conditions suit and having James McDonald in the saddle helps. Given the odds difference between Our Intrigue and Harpo Marx, we would opt to take Our Intrigue for the win.

Race 7 2:45pm MIDWAY BM72 Tips

Punters get lovely odds for Royal Banquet, who looks ready to strike after two runs this preparation. The four-year-old son of Snitzel wasn’t far behind Papal Warrior last start and he won his only third-up start last preparation, which is a good sign. He owns four wins from eight starts and we wouldn’t overlook that record.

Bazooka has come up the favourite. He owns only one win from 18 starts, but he comes off a second placing at Rosehill. He’s worth including, but the value is with Royal Banquet.

Race 3 12:53 MOUNT FRANKLIN 0MW Tips

Able Mabel is all the rage in betting markets and rightfully so. She scored three wins from four starts last preparation and she is more than capable of handling this field. The four-year-old daughter of Spirit of Boom comes off a solid trial placing at Doomben and carrying 54kg off the inside draw is ideal.

Man in Motion is shooting for three consecutive wins, but this is a much harder task. The lightly-tried seven-year-old has been specked at each-way odds and could figure in the finish.

Race 8 4:03 TAB HANDICAP Tips

Roman Aureus has a nice turn-of-foot on his day and he comes off a solid second placing at Ipswich. Finishing a length behind Desert Lord is a good result and he goes well second-up, so punters should be confident of a big effort. He owns four wins and two placings from six starts on the track, which is tough to overlook.

Ziemba has been best-backed to beat the favourite. The five-time winner finished nicely for third last start and that could be a good form guide. He knows how to win on the track and his second-up statistics are worth noting.

Frances Boy has been heavily backed after opening at $7. The seven-year-old owns 12 wins, so he’s not lacking experience. Only one of those wins has come at Gawler, but he can’t be overlooked and the market confidence is worth considering.

Icecrusher is the form runner of the field after winning her last two. She has yet to miss a placing at Gawler and getting 2kg off her back is ideal. She has also been well-backed and she has our support.

Race 4 1:46pm KINGSFORD HOTEL BM62 Tips

Most of the money has come for Taunting and the two-year-old colt could go back-to-back. He was too smart at Morphettville last start and he’s a runner that could rise through the grades in style. He is bred to be better than most in this field and he comes from the highly regarded Michael Hickmott stables.

Keep Reading has been backed to beat it on debut. He comes off a trial win at Morphettville and it could pay to watch the market for further betting moves.

Race 8 5:10pm BEAUFINE STAKES Tips

Amasenus has won six on the bounce and that form could be tough to beat. The four-year-old mare is a three-time winner at the track and a five-time winner at the distance. That’s solid form and she commands attention.

However, our top pick is Miss Conteki. She was unlucky not to extend her winning streak to five last start and dropping to 54kg with William Pike is a steal. We are confident she can bounce back and win the feature race.
