Sandown racing takes place on Wednesday, July 10, with an eight-race program for the Victorian meeting.

We have the best bets picked out from across the day with value selections for Sandown Racecourse.

Sandown Race 2 No. 5 La Casona

This looks to be a suitable race for La Casona at her first run since February. The Ciaron Maher-trained filly was an impressive debut winner at the Hillside circuit when leading all the way from Inez with those two putting a gap on the rest of the field, including four that have gone on to better things.

The daughter of Snitzel was then thrown into the deep end at Flemington when battling late at Group 3 level in the Vanity (1400m) behind Grinzinger Belle. She comes back to BenchMark 64 level for this assignment and draws perfectly in barrier 5 with John Allen on board.

Sandown Race 3 No. 6 Apache Song

Apache Song can go close in Race 3. She was a winner at Sandown four starts ago the last time she raced at BenchMark 64 level then was runner-up in a BM78 before tackling some Saturday races at Flemington where she was outclassed by the likes of Craig and Rise At Dawn last time.

The Michael Trotter filly comes back to this level and has been a big firmer in the early betting, while she draws to get the run of the race from barrier 4 with Blake Shinn to ride. He is one from two for the stable.

Sandown Race 6 No. 3 Written In Code

Written In Code can go a couple of spots better than a first up effort that saw her finish 3rd at Mornington over the 1200m on June 10. The four-year-old settled back that day and they went slow early on but she was able to make up a bit of ground in the straight to land two lengths off Shaime, finishing ahead of Street Delight, who has since come out and claimed a BenchMark 70.

Written In Code comes into this second up and was a noted improver on benchmark figures at her only other run at this stage when going from a Maiden win to a runner-up behind Red Card at Listed level. She will settle back half for this and as long as they don’t go too slow up in front she will be hard to hold out at the business end.
