Sandown racing takes place on Wednesday, February 5, with an eight-race program set down for Sandown racetrack.
- Sandown Race 2 No. 2- Climb The Ladder
- Sandown Race 5 No. 5- Grid Girl
- Sandown Race 7 No. 2- Enxuto
We have the best bets picked from across the meeting for Sandown racetrack.
Sandown Race 2 No. 2- Climb The Ladder
Keen on Climb The Ladder in Race 2. The Chris Waller-trained galloper has had just the one career start and caught the eye from back in the field at Mornington to fill the exacta behind Summer Flame. The 4th horse past the post, Sirena, was an impressive meeting at Sandown last week. Climb The Ladder closed off with the fastest last 200m and gives the impression that the 1400m should be right up his alley. Damian Lane takes the ride.
Sandown Race 5 No. 5- Grid Girl
Grid Girl shapes as a major player in Race 5. The Team Hayes galloper resumed at Cranbourne in this grade on January 18 and settled last of the eight runners before working home strongly over the 1200m with the fastest late split. She ended up just under a length off American Liaison, who has since come out and claimed a BenchMark 78 at Sale last weekend. Grid Girl was a notable improver on benchmark figures at this stage of her last preparation when 3rd at Sandown and might be a bit more prominent in the run after drawing barrier 3 this time around with Mark Zahra to ride.
Sandown Race 7 No. 2- Enxuto
Sticking with Enxuto in Race 7. The Robbie Griffiths-trained galloper did the job for us last week at Sandown when booting to a three-length win in a BenchMark 64 ahead of Al Duca. He gets another shot at this grade and went seven lengths faster than standard benchmark last week, which compares favourably to this lot. The four-year-old has performed well on the short back-up in the past and was thereabouts in a series of strong form races in harder company at Flemington at this stage of his last preparation.
