Adam Cusworth picks out his blackbookers and horses to follow from Saturday racing at Sandown on February 1.
- Race 5- Chairman’s Stakes (1000m, Group 3, 2YO)- Jenni Moo Moo
- Race 9- Geoffrey Bellmaine Stakes (1200m, Group 3, Mares)- Fancify
- Race 10- BenchMark 84 Handicap (1400m)- Windstorm
Race 5- Chairman’s Stakes (1000m, Group 3, 2YO)- Jenni Moo Moo
It is hard to tell how the two-year-old form will pan out from the Chairmans Stakes but Jenni Moo Moo looks to have a win in her early career after a solid effort to run on for 4th behind Inkaruna. The Clinton McDonald filly settled back in the small field over the 1000m and lacked a bit of zip when the race went on as they headed for the home turn. But once she straightened up she displayed good speed with the third fastest last 200m of the entire meeting, bettered only by She’s Bulletproof and Tashi in Race 9.
Race 9- Geoffrey Bellmaine Stakes (1200m, Group 3, Mares)- Fancify
Big win by She’s Bulletproof in the Group 3 Bellmaine Stakes and the Charlotte Littlefield galloper continues to impress. She is an obvious horse to follow in her own right. One that should be an improver at her next start is Fancify. The South Australian mare was stepping out for her first run since scoring at Flemington during the Melbourne Cup Carnival and sped out to lead before being run down in the straight by the winner. She was a notable improver on benchmark figures when second up at her last preparation and should be more suited up in trip.
Race 10- BenchMark 84 Handicap (1400m)- Windstorm
It has been a stop-start career by Windstorm, who burst onto the scene in 2020 before a series of injuries plagued the former Perth galloper. The eight-year-old might have a win still in him yet, however, if his run in the final race is anything to go by. Now in the hands of Gavin Bedggood, he was slow to begin then was posted wide for the majority on what was a hot tempo. But the veteran kept coming to land in 4th position, just over a length from the winner.
