Randwick racing takes place on Saturday, June 22, with a 10-race program set down for the NSW metropolitan meeting.

  • Race 2: No.8 Vanquished
  • Race 4: No.3 Bakerloo
  • Race 5: No.8 Kerguelen
  • Race 6: No.13 Amberlite

We have the best bets picked out from across day with value selections for Kembla Grange Racecourse.

Race 2: No.8 Vanquished

The Waterhouse & Bott-trained galloper found his form quickly this time in and looks set here to go on with it in this event.

Last start, the Vancouver gelding rang up career win number two when he took out a BM64 over 1550m at Canterbury with Amy McLucas aboard.

The young apprentice rode him a treat, leading from barrier to box and doing it comfortably in the end, crossing the line 1.5 lengths clear of the field.

He steps up in grade here, taking on BM72 company and with three starts under his belt this preparation, he should be at his peak for this.

McLucas sticks with him for this assignment where he maps to cross and lead them again and dictating the pace, he can go back-to-back in this contest.

Race 4: No.3 Bakerloo

Paul Perry saddles-up the three-year-old daughter of The Mission here who has hit the ground running this campaign and looks well placed to ring up podium finish number four in this event.

Resuming off an 18-week spell, the filly won her first two back on the track before finishing a close-up third in a strong BM78 over the Randwick mile, on a Heavy 9 that day.

Ash Morgan replaces Rory Hutchings here after already steering her to victory twice previously from his only two rides on the filly.

She draws well in gate five and maps to settle mid-field with cover.

Already a winner at the track and a winner when fourth-up last preparation, a trouble-free run here should see her fighting out the finish in this contest.

Race 5: No.8 Kerguelen

The James Cummings-trained youngster made a powerful impression on debut and a repeat of that performance here should see him saluting again.

Last start, the well-bred Lonhro gelding totally dominated his debut run where he crushed his rivals in a 1200m Maiden on a Heavy 9 at Kembla Grange.

With Jean Van Overmeire aboard, came off back-to-back trial wins and was given 59kgs to carry, but in the end, made it look all too easy as he crossed the line 9.5 lengths ahead of them.

The forecast wet track here looks ideal for him as he welcomes new pilot, James McDonald aboard.

He has come up with the outside gate but has the early speed to cross and settle in the first half-dozen.

It is a big step-up to BM72 company from maiden status, but his last start performance was too impressive to ignore and it will take a real smart here to prevent him from going back-to-back in this contest.

Race 6: No.13 Amberlite

The former Kiwi galloper sees a NSW track for the first time here and based on his form since arriving in Australia, he can make a huge impression in this event.

Two starts back, the Proisir gelding made an impressive Australian debut when he clobbered a BM84 field over 1800m at Flemington before beating all but one home last start, in similar company over 2000m at Caulfield.

He appears to have done enough (to date) to suggest he is the real deal and his resume suggests he revels in wet conditions, with all three career-wins coming on soft or heavy tracks.

He races clockwise here for the first time since arriving on Australian shores and has James McDonald in the saddle for this assignment.

The winkers go back on for this contest and with a trouble-free run throughout, he should be there at the finish.
