Randwick racing takes place on Saturday, March 8 with a 10-race program set down for Randwick racetrack.

Race 4: No.5 Wodeton
Race 8: No.12 Switzerland
Race 10: No.10 Clear Thinking

Race 4: No.5 Wodeton

The Chris Waller-trained Wodeton lines-up here for his third race start and with a little more luck in running, he can bounce back to claim victory in this event.

Last start, nothing went right for the Wootton Bassett colt where drawing thew outside gate proved costly as he finished third in the Group 2 Silver Slipper Stakes (1100m) at Rosehill.

Settling back in the field, he was trapped three-deep (no cover) from the outset and spent the rest of the journey trying to keep in touch. He did well to finish as close as he did (two lengths).

From gate five, he maps to settle mid-field (with cover) unless new rider James McDonald (J.Mac) has other plans.

Billed as a dress rehearsal for the Golden Slipper (where he is currently the $3.50 favourite with all-in markets), he looks the testing material in this contest.

Race 8: No.12 Switzerland

Waller and J.Mac team-up here with Switzerland who is second-up and ticks the boxes that suggest he is the one to beat in the big Group 1 race.

Last start, the Snitzel colt resumed after Group 1 success in the Coolmore Stud Stakes at Flemington and looked in need of the run when finishing fourth in the Group 1 Black Caviar Lightning at the same track.

Down the straight course, J.Mac had him parked just behind the leaders and in the run home, he finished off strongly but was clearly a run short of his best, just edged out of third prize on the line.

He draws wide in gate nine here but maps to cross and settle better than mid-field with cover.

Back in his comfort zone here, he is unbeaten in three starts on the Randwick track and is two from two when second-up as well.

J.Mac has been successful with him three time previously and looks set to add another notch to his resume in this contest.

Race 10: No.10 Clear Thinking

The Scone-based galloper is high-flying in her career to date and third-up here looks a serious contender for the main prize in this event.

Last start, the Dubawi mare came off a Class 3 Highway Hcp win on this track when she faced her first crack at black-type racing and was impressive when she beat all but one to the line in the Group 3 Triscay Stakes, here over 1200m.

She settled last in the field after a wide draw and finished off the race nicely to arrive in time and claim the silver medal with Zac Lloyd aboard.

Her efforts that day stand out even more as Inhibitions (the winner), broke the race record, covering the 1200m in a sizzling 1:08.57 and finishing half a length behind that time is also impressive.

She draws wide in gate 10 here and with plenty of early speed drawn inside, it’s a lottery where she may end up on settling.

Already a winner when third-up and a two-time winner at the track and distance, its all green light here and she will take beating in her second Group 3 contest.
