Jason Attard saddles-up Charlina here who is in superb form this preparation and ticks most boxes here that suggest she can go back-to-back in this event.
Last start, the Flying Artie filly rang-up her second career win when she clobbered her rivals in a Class 1 Hcp over 1000m at Gosford.
With Olivia Chambers aboard, the filly found the front on settling and set a solid pace, then straightened-up well clear and never looked like conceding the lead, going on to win by two lengths, eased near the line.
Facing city class runners here, she draws gate seven and maps to find the front with Chambers steering the ship again.
Left alone to control the race again, the thee-year-old could prove hard to run down in this contest.
Race 5: No.6 Concordia Wind
The Chris Waller-trained galloper is second-up today and looks well placed to go one better in this event.
Last start, the Justify mare resumed off a 13-week spell and did well to beat all but one home in a BM72 Hcp over 1250m at Canterbury.
On a Heavy 8, she settled mid-field before losing her spot when the tempo quickened just before the turn, then in the run home, gave them too much start and despite making up ground, had to settle for second prize in the race.
Nicely drawn in gate two, she maps to do no early work and settle back in the field on the fence with Nash Rawiller aboard for the first time.
The four-year-old boasts prior success on wet tracks so conditions will suit and already a winner when second-up, she can get the job done in this contest.
Race 6: No.7 Black Babylon
The Team Archibald-trained galloper has run himself into form this time in and fourth-up here, looks set to lay down a serious challenge for victory in this event.
Last start, the Irish-bred gelding came even closer to victory when he finished second again in a BM72 over 2200m at Warwick Farm.
With Tom Sherry aboard, he ploughed through the Heavy 8 conditions, carrying 60kgs for the journey where he settled just behind the speed before tracking wide on the turn, then in the run home, gained control of the race but was run down in the final 100m, conceding 4.5kgs to the winner that day.
Facing BM78 company here, he drops 2.5kgs for today’s assignment and from gate four, maps to settle in the first half-dozen with Tom Sherry on board again.
At his peak here and off a seven day back-up, he looks well worth an each-way ticket in this contest.
